A Bernie man is in custody at the Stoddard County jail under a cash only bond of $125,000 following his arrest on drug charges and police are currently searching for the man's wife, who faces similar charges.
Nelson Hickman, 39, was arrested at his Bernie residence on Friday, Oct. 3 following an investigation by the Sheriff's Department. He was charged with the Class B felony of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and additionally with the class C felony of possession of a controlled substance.

According to Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner, the dual felony charges have also been issued to Hickman's 33-year-old wife, Bobbie J. Hickman, who Hefner says has fled the area.

Nelson Hickman remains in custody at the county jail and the search continues for his wife.

In an unrelated arrest, the Sheriff's Department placed Jeff A. Jaynes of Fisk in custody, also on drug charges. Jaynes, 47, was charged with the Class A misdemeanor of possession of marijuana. His bond was set at $5000 cash only and he remains in the Stoddard County jail.

This is the second time they would have been busted for meth, if that's the case.

It isn't the same crimes. One has felony charges the other one has misdemeanor charges. And the one with felony charges has two charges, not just one. That is why the bond is different.
