These guys are regular rocket scientists!!
Don't they know that only drug dealers keep money in their homes! A few years in prision will be good for them. When they get out they'll be farting when they walk.

I heard the owner got arrested for assaulting the fire chief at the scene-don't know the truth to that for sure tho...People aren't in their right mind as their house is burning....maybe they (authorities) will come to the conclusion that he burned his own house down cause it wouldn't sell. Seems like the only conclusion they can come to around here is that EVERYONE is in the habit of doing that for the ins. $....might be true, but no one is open to the possibility that we may just have a serial arsonist in the area....a real pyro..it's possible.

It's happened before and most times its a fire fighter who is magically always first at the scene.

That is way out of line! And, I am not aware of any recent fires in the region where a firefighter was on-scene before any of the fire apparatus.

To answer the earlier question, Yes, a deputy chief was assualted while he was trying to keep the homeowner away from the fire.

Sorry to burst your bubble there Fred but I didnt say it has happened recently. I said it has happened before and more often than you think. If you like I can give names and dates. Now go take your pills.

One is a known name for his Uncle is still a Judge in Wayland. It was many years ago but he was always first on the scene as a fire fighter and did time in prison for it. He was sick. They found pictures he had drawn of the fires he set in his home. I am not saying it is an epidemic but people who are sick like this usually want to be fire fighters like a pedifile likes to be around children.

I am not saying it doesn't happen, but there are processes in place to try to prevent it. That is one of the reasons many fire departments and ambulance services do criminal and DMV background checks on applicants.

The Emergency Services have grown up over the past decade. There is increased training for responders and better tracking/accountability of responders on scenes, partly due to the better training and partly due to federal mandates.

What really surprises me is the lack of reporting by any of the local media of a fire that involved a response from 6 departments and took almost 8 hours to put out.

Sorry guys I'm just a little pissed that the authorities always seem to come to that conclusion. What surprizes me Fred is that no one is seeing a pattern here. The only pattern they see is a bunch of homeowners committing insurance fraud. You never get back what your house & all that it's contents is worth. It makes no sense for some cases. Older people, well established, & well revered in the community, do not pull something like that. I wouldn't take a lie detector test either. They are so failable, they aren't even admissible in court. I wouldn't put myself out there to get a false positive on that test either if I were them.

cooter, can i ask you what you have against fireman? seriously. you make it out to be that every fire that has ever happened has been started by a fireman. have you ever heard of kids playing with matches? people putting food on the stove and falling asleep?

I dont have anything against fireman I was just stating one on MANY ways fires are started and by who. I am sure it is rare but it does happen and has happened.

Cooter's right. I remember reading about such a person in the news within the last year (sorry, don't remember his name or the town). It's not the majority of firefighters, any more than the majority of elementary school teachers or cub scout leaders are pedophiles. But it does happen.
