Sheriff you claim that you are open and accessible to your constituents in the community; if that is the case why did you decline to meet with concerned community members after former Stanislaus County Detective Kari Abbey killed Rita Elias?

Sheriff in the past you have made claims that “you know your deputies”; did you know former Sheriff Kari Abbey was collecting personal rent while on duty?

Did you know that she had marijuana growing at her residence near where she kept her uniforms; could you not smell the dank weed aroma permeating from her clothing?

Sheriff you proclaimed yourself a “1000lb gorilla”; could you explain in depth what this means.

Sheriff in the Craig Prescott video (linked below) many in the community feel Craig’s head is motionless and he appears to be dead; what are your thoughts of this video footage?

Sheriff it has been said their was an original extraction video of Craig Prescott; where is this video? If you claim it does not exist, why not? Isn’t an extraction video required by law?

Sheriff how many sexual harassment lawsuits have been brought against you? How much have these lawsuits cost our county?

Sheriff how does a man like Joe Gibbs get an ankle bracelet for man slaughter when folks living on Modesto’s urbanized unincorporated fringes get prison time for much less crimes? Who within the community requested you “go easy”/“not imprison” Joe Gibbs?

Sheriff many in the community want you to resign because of your many failures since you where elected; why won’t you resign? Do you suffer from “hubris syndrome” because you have surrounded your self by to many “yes men”?

The community has lost “trust” in local law enforcement. Local law enforcement (MPD, Stanislaus County Sheriffs, Ceres PD) all need to equip their officers with video cameras; so when any question arises about “truthfulness” whether it be from the individual accused of a crime or an officer we can just go to the recording.

Local law enforcement also needs random drug testing for illicit drugs and steroids in the ranks.

Last but not least we need to set up some type of “Citizens Police Review Board” with:

Paid investigator with subpoena power
Five citizen members appointed
Two at large members
Two year terms for the members
Citizens hear complaints and order investigations when needed; Investigator is allowed access to confidential records and files.
Investigator investigates
No officer or employee of the City shall be appointed to the Commission.
All meetings shall be open to the public, unless the Commission, in order to protect the rights and privacy of individuals, decides otherwise and if such closed meeting is not waived by the individual concerned.
All Commission meetings, and agendas for such meetings shall adhere to the Brown act regulations for public meetings and notify the public as in the case of all other public meetings.

Here is a DOJ link on how to set up a Citizen Police Review Board:

Sheriff ,why, when a citizen approached you at a board of supervisors meeting recently, did you say, "I'm not talking to you"? That's certainly not open and accessible as you claim to be.

Sheriff since former Stanislaus County Sheriff Detective Kari Abbey was found to be in possession of 16 vials of steroids & community members addressed their concerns to the Modesto City Council, have you considered random drug testing of your staff?
