These negative issues with Duve are pointless as your information is completely disproportionate and highly inaccurate. Take the total number of cases she has handled and see where your account adds up. You can't go by what you hear in the news and a few published articles that are fabricated to sell papers. Your history on her is full of holes and unfortunately it surely won't change as you are surely another outsider looking in from too far away rather than up close and acutally in the know. So sad. Her opponent is making us the same accusations and clouding people's judgement by making claims on a few higher profile cases that made the local paper. The paper is not the new in its fullest exposure, but merely the reporter's way ( with an editor or two ) of telling a story that will appeal to the readers they want it to be read by. You are one of them I can tell. Duve has my support and many others. Also, Mr. Richard's and Duve should not be grouped together to create your concoction of failures. They are two separate entities and have different jobs.
Excuse me but since when did the news not become the news? I will be the first to agree that there are always angles to a story but objective adults mostly see through the hooey and understand the baseline facts as they're presented. I don't believe we need to see a full body of work to form an opinion on Nicole Duve. So she does her job most of the time and most of the cases are open and shut, run of the mill cake cases. So what? The cases that make the news and the cases we're forming our opinion on are the ones she badly bungled or was involved in and gave petty excuses for her poor performance on. Those ARE noteworthy cases and SHOULD be heavily scrutinized by reporters and by the voters.

You sound like such a putz. You are completely sitting in the smoke and mirrors of Rain. Ms. Duve has done her job with respect and in the best interest of the people of St. Lawrence County period. I am sure you follow every siren in the area too. Ambulance chasing fool. Your opinion is as dirty as the tactic Rain is using in her campain for a chance to take on what Ms. Duve is doing at a higher level that she could ever think of. The caseloads are too large for her. I hope someone doesn't pee in your cheerios today too.

This is a very juvenile stance to take in my opinion. Tell me, what platform should a contender take against a sitting DA other than pointing out her glaring faults? Should she compliment her as you're doing? Talk about what a great job she does with open and shut cases and ignore the balls she has dropped as you're doing? Ignore the excuses she gives us when she doesn't perform her job and murderers, drug trafficers and child abusers walk free because of DA ineptitde? Is that the clean campaign you'd perfer? Please grow up and understand that it is the job of the contender to highlight the differences between themselves and the incumbet. It is their duty to point out the failures of the incumbent and articulate what they would do to assure those failures don't occur under their watch and that the successes under the incumbent will continue. St. Lawrence County voters aren't blind and for Mrs. Rain not to capitalize on that would be a dis-service to her campaign. You're clearly a supporter of Mrs. Duve' and that's fine.. but if she were the challenger using the same tactics against Mrs. Rain who was the incumbent, I have a feeling you wouldn't find any fault in them.

Anyone looking to upseat a position whether is political or in this case a district attorney will make sure they sound better than their opponent in order to pull in votes. The problem is the information that is being put out is juvenile. It is factless, unproven and just wrong. I am pretty sure you are not in law and do not know the inner workings of st. lawrence county court, da's office or a police station. There is a lot more than meets the eye or in this case the campaign. The stuff you read in the news is not always factual. It is obtaining what they consider facts by the best of their ability and transforming them into something to read. It is a skill. That skill can be compromised by misleading information and the chance to scar someone's reputation, sell news and elevate their stance in the journalist field of work. You have your favorite and I have mine.

So tell us whats not factual?
The number of cases they two of them have gone head to head.
The number of cases Rain won versus lost against Duve.
The reasons for why her example cases ended like they did.
Leaving factual information out of her reasoning and putting a spin on logic while speaking of Duve's office.
Rain's portrayal of Duve's work ethic.
Rain's portrayal of Duve's commitment to the county.
Rain's portrayal of Duve's commitment to the citizens of SLC.
Painting a picture that Duve is the reason for the staff turnover.
I will stop there - plenty more.

Well, your problem isn't with Mrs. Rain then.

Your problem is with Mrs. Duve'.

It's her job to correct those errors. her job is political and if she can't effectively address those simple charges then how in the hell can she effectively do her job as Mrs. Rain charges she can't?

Hmmm?

It is not that easy - criminal comes in - charge them. Come one. People have rights and simple things like how the officer gained his evidence can have a charge thrown out. The DA is not there to persecute based her value, but based on tried and true evidence - either collected or thru interrogation. Ms. Duve does her job well and that is all that needs to be said. She effectively does all avenues of her job with skill and commitment to St. Lawerence County and all within and those who commit crimes within. If she could collect her own evidence and question every crime committed there would be more convictions. There are so many variables you seem to think everything is just black and white, simple simon, whistle dixie and go on skipping your merry way to grandmas house in your cute little skirt and basket. I am voting for Duve. Thank you.

Everything you said goes without saying. if anyone is faulting her for something that is out of her control than that is unfortunate for her but again, that's politics. However, ther eis plenty that can rest squarely on her shoulders that she commonly makes excuses for. We see her on the news whining about why she can't do her job all the time. Not for the instances you're describing but talking about how overworked she is etc.
