I applaud the village for taking action on Ames. It's about time that someone did something about this crooked cop that
Thinks he is above the law!

He stays, he is forced to live with the shame of why he is now a rokie cop.
He leaves, the village saves much needed money as a result.

Except he is entitled to a hearing in front of an impartial hearing officer. Now that the village board has stated its position prior to a hearing he is going to win because they have prejudged him.

Are these board members stupid or what?

if there is one good thing that can come out of this public fiasco it is this. local law enforcement needs to realize to enforce the laws upon others- they must also obey the same laws. that goes for drinking and driving- speeding and all the other crap the john doe gets tickets for.police are held to a higher standard and when they f-k up people come down hard on them. personally mr. ames has to live with his poor choice and the effect it had on his career. that in itself is quite a punishment.i don;t envy the guy right about now. but it does sound like a case of sour grapes regarding the man who filed charges after so much time had elapsed. i smell a skunk in the woodpile in this media mess.Potsdam PD has taken an ass whooping in the public eye. no resolution to the murder of an innocent child is first on peoples minds. and now this ames baloney. they need to keep a subtle profile for a while and regain the respect of the community.
