hate crime laws - thought police - are a hallmark of fascism. you'll notice hate crime laws are promoted by the left and by the democrat party. the left is taking us down the road to a fascist state. if you think this is "progressive"' you are sadly mistaken. trust me you're not going to like it.

I am extremely curious. It seems that the crime, be it rape, assault or any other type of violent crime is only considered a hate crime if the victim is a member of a protected class.
I believe that the powers that be are only interested in "protecting the protected classes" that vote for them over and over again.
It seems that there is no way possible for a member of the "protected class" to commit a "hate" crime against the "unprotected" [read white male] even if the crime really was committed due to the "protected class" perpetrators hatred of the "unprotected" victim.

So why is everyone automatically assuming this was a white guy ? I guess it's okay to assume a Dustan Warren in the world is white but to a assume a Jamaal Jones from Brooklyn Center being black is considered stereotyping .

A sexual assault is a hate crime, whether it be against a woman or a man, gay or straight.

Instead of whining about the hate crime component being added to the charges (which earned him an extra five years to his sentence) you people should be glad this guy is off the street so he won't be attacking your wife, girlfriend, sister or daughter.

The degree of violence was probably escalated by this guy thinking that the woman was a lesbian but who's to say that he wouldn't attack any woman who dared to refuse his sexual advances?

Actually it's considered a hate crime if the victim is targeted because of a characteristic covered by hate crime laws.

What are you talking about? Roughly 37% of hate crime offenders are non-White.

A hate crime is a any crime which, when publicized, can be used to publicize liberal assertions of victimhood. Its mostly a media matter, as they take the smallest of such crimes and give them saturation coverage for months on end.

While members of designated victim classes may be charged with hate crimes, only the proper orientation of prejudiced class and victim class receive any media publicity.

Its not about the punishment or the crime, its about advancing the political agenda. Another example of how the media is out of step with the mainstream public.

3 black people assault 1 one white person its just assault and they wouldnt even think about charging them with a hate crime cause of all the blacks playing the race card. but when 3 white people beat up a black guy now thats a hate crime no matter what it was about. now thats injustice. i hate our system such a double standard

I don't see any comments here that condone rapists and muggers. What is being said is that a crime committed against someone should be treated the same regardless of the victim's race, gender, sexual orientation, or whatever. You don't fight discrimination by discriminating against the majority.

It is good that the pos is off the streets. And you're right he probably would attack any woman who refused his advances. But if you were a victim and were told the crime wasn't as harsh because you weren't a lesbian would you be ok with that? Any characteristic that a victim has could further enrage a criminal - it the victim was blonde, rich, tall, short, provovatively dressed, etc. Where do we draw the line? Better yet, just treat all crimes the same regardless of the victims characteristics.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Aries

Someone wants to go their own way today and they won't care whose feathers they ruffle in the process. It's a lunar eclipse at the Full Moon in Cancer, so let them get on with it. The last thing you should do now is to hang on to their coat-tails or do anything else that will make them feel restricted. Make it plain that you've got your own fish to fry, thank you very much. And try not to let it stop you enjoying yourself. Have a great night!
