Where were the aides/people who are to see that the kindergartners are clear of the bus anyway?

It's obvious that no one posting here knows what happened that dreadful day, but judging from the police, the driver hasn't been charged, which may indicate the child might have run out in front (or behind) of the bus, out of the driver's view. My sincere condolences to the family. I'm hoping the school will rethink and implement more effective safety procedures to ensure this doesn't happen again.

"PREKINDERGARTEN" Think about that. How long should the PARENTS have with THEIR kids to TEACH them how to behave and for THEIR kid to MATURE enough to be follow SAFETY RULES before being turned over to bus drivers, assistants, teachers and others? At four years old this kid should have been under the care and watchful eye of his parents NOT pushed off on the public school system to be taught life basics. Our schools are being used for baby sitting services instead of learning institutions. Let's put the responsibility of teaching the basic common sense issues back on the family and let the schools take care of the academics. I feel for the family but I feel even more badly for the bus driver. The bus driver has to live with results of a four year old kid being a four year old kid and being irresponsible. The bus driver must live with the results of a school attempting to take the place of a parent instead of giving the parents the chance to teach their kids the basics before turning them over. The bus driver must live with the bad decision of the parents to send their kids to school before they are old enough or mature enough to be there.

Why wasn't the school watching children from bus to door?

Why wasn't there an adult to indicate an "all clear" to the bus driver before the driver moved the bus even an inch?

Someone should be charged - it is just running down who is ultimately responsible for whatever procedure allowed the bus driver to move the bus.

You are sick. It was a terrible accident and the fault is with the school and a failure to have adequate supervision when the kids get on an off the bus. Young children thrive in school! This child's parent is a teacher at the school...

Good! When a kid darts in front of any moving vehicle, he might get hit. If they charged this driver, they would have an even harder time trying to get people to drive school buses. I know that would be the last job I'd want having to deal with the uncivilized children that you can't discipline on the bus.

No charges for the bus driver is correct, because someone was required to be with him at the bus stop.

How would the public see this, if the police would arrest the mother or father of this child for neglect?
