He also said the restaurant, which seats 225, generated an average revenue of $2.38 million a year over the past 10 years.
Yea, use a 10 year number, because if you used the numbers from the last 2 years or even 5 years, it would be lower. It's a shame their service went so far down hill. I hope it gets sold to somebody, who employs a manager, who cares, but with their asking price, I don't think anybody could afford the payments and use the property for a resturant. Get ready to see a convenence store on that corner

"It's a Shame," I'd heard that Leibys' had gone downhill over the years. And it IS a shame; when we kids would visit my aunt in Carbon County every summer, that was a big treat for her to take us to Leibys' for dinner and ice cream. Lots of happy memories of that place!

Our area is losing good places to eat. We recently lost Faust which will now be a tractor supply company. Now we'll lose Leiby's to something other than a restaurant I'm sure. The last time I ate at Leiby's I ordered fish & chips. It was nothing short of the fish from Aldi's with the price tag of way too much. What a shame. Hopefully someone who cares will buy it. Too bad greed got in the owner's way.

We use to drive from Bethlehem to eat there but mostly for the ice cream. The service and the prices in the last years is what lost us. Overpriced and a no care attitude toward the customer.

Leiby's was once truly a Family Restaurant with down a down to earth menu no fancy names or sauces. Just plan old home cooked meals. The ice cream and pies were the best not like the other bakery's who make these outrages treats. Just regular pies Lemon Meringue, Banana Cream, I would ride up from Coopersburg just for the pies especially for holiday. What a shame another part of the past gone to make room for what they say is progress.

I worked there as a busboy in the late 70's. On the weekends, the line for a table would be out the door all day long. The food was great and the ice cream even better. As I went back there over the years, I could see the decline in the quality of the food and the service, which is typical of most everything today. It would be a shame if a resturaunt isn't maintained at that location under the Leiby's name, but it would not surprise me to see a gas station/convenience store go in there. At least I will always have the memories...

What else is there to write. The service was terrible, the price of the food was out of line, and the quality was bad. Hope someone takes it over that isn't money hungry and keeps it as a rest. We used to go there every Sunday and I hope w can start to resume our routine in the near future.

I am from Schuylkill County and used to eat there all the time in the 80's. Over the years though, it was the same old song: buy cheaper food and over price it. That with the decline in service was what finally did Leiby's in. It used to be a real landmark.

I live in Bethlehem too and used to go to to Leiby's for their pies but their ice cream was nothing worth driving that far for, Especially since for the last 20 years Bethlehem has one of the best ice cream stores in the country - Nuts about Ice Cream. They ship all over the country. They supply a lot of ethnic restaurants in the Philly Market.

I hear this all the time, yet wait for it. The restaurant went out of business? because it was making sooo much money?

Sheetz? No, WaWa is too ingrained in this area.
Drugstore? Nah.

What they're gonna put there is a methadone clinic.

Shitz made the lowest offer of any of the interested buyers, less then half of the asking price, even TSC offered more. When it comes to looking for a new location, Shitz only buys cheap land

Personally speaking, I'd LOVE to see individually owned restaurants make a comeback. I mean, there's nothing really 'wrong' with chain restaurants, but they serve the same stuff at every location, all over the country. When I go out of town, I like to eat specialties from that area, not the same old generic stuff.

I REALLY MISS THE RESTAURANT. EVERYTIME I DROVE TO NEW JERSEY TO VISIT MY SON AND HIS FAMILY, I ENJOYED STOPPING THERE AND EATING...ESPECIALLY MY FAVORITE...CHIPPED CREAMED BEEF ON BELGIAN WAFFLE. LEIBY'S BEAT ANY I'VE EVER TASTED! I HOPE TO SEE THE RESTAURANT BACK IN BUSINESS IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I'M HAVING DIFFICULTY FINDING A NEW STOP-OFF PLACE ALONG THE ROUTE.
