City, county draw a bead on graffiti
“We want to provide more tools to the officers and this ordinance does that”
For months, graffiti has been popping up - unwelcome and illegal - throughout much of Edmonds and Snohomish County.
Now both the city and the county are closing in on anti-graffiti ordinances that will give police more tools to fight the rising epidemic, and cities more authority to compel victims to clean up.
"Graffiti is a growing crime that is degrading our community," county executive Aaron Reardon said last week in a statement accompanying tougher legislation that he forwarded to county council. "It's time to show vandals that graffiti won't be tolerated in Snohomish County." Read more
