Neighbors Find Bloody Horse Left On Arlington Road

It was a gruesome sight for neighbors in Snohomish County, a long bloody trail on their road with the remains of a horse.

This horse was drug 4 miles from Pilchuck Tree farm(Bracken road) to Scoten Loop Road by the owner, appartenly it "fell" out of the back door of their trailer. It was a horrible sight and just finally the street cleaner came today, however there are horse "parts" in the ditches along side of the road.

I hope who ever did this is proscuted. How in the heck can you pull a trailer and not know there is something going on in the back like that. When I pull my trailer I am watching the mirrors on my truck constantly. You certainly would feel the strange activity going on in the back.
This just makes me sick! I feel sorry for the people that live on that road who had to watch that. I hear there were body parts all up and down the road.

I agree, How can someone NOT know that they are dragging a horse. Didn't they check the trailer before they left, don't they look in their mirrors? NO WAY they didn't know, NO WAY!! I feel so sorry for the suffering that the horse had to go through because of some idiot not paying attention and not to mention the people and possibly chirldren having to see that! I hope they do prosecute whoever did this!

It's a horrible sight, I live on this street and had part of the horse in front of my yard, the road crew will have to come back and clean the road a few more times, the blood is not going away after just once. Sadly, I'm shocked the owner has not been found, how could they ignore what they have done?

Tina, I feel for you, what a horrible thing to have to go through. I am a horse owner and I am in such shock right now. I can't even possibly imagine such a thing. I hope they can get it cleaned up soon. And oh gosh I hope no children have seen that, I would hate to be their parents and have to explain such a horrible thing, it would be impossible.

I was behind this trailer by five minutes and spoke with the owner of the horse. She unemotionally stated that it "fell out of the trailer" I am outraged and will do whatever it takes to give this horse justice. Please contact me at [e-mail] if you can help my voice. Seeing the tracks and the horse parts the bloody line weaving all over, THERE IS NO WAY THE HORSE OWNER COULD HAVE BEEN OBLIVIOUS TO THE DISASTER HAPPENING BEHIND HER TRUCK!!!!!!!

And, it is incorrect that they do not know who the owner is. The sherrif was called by many many people, I know what she looks like, and the owners of the home where the horse was in front of were there as well. The horse was picked up by the county on Monday morning, but that is only because the owner couldn't pay for the removal. She should have been the one to pay for a proper removal.

First of all I am a grandview resident when this driver pulled out from the Pilchuck Tree Farm (Braken Rd) she was only a few city blocks when the horse fell out. That is where the trail started so she couldn't have been going more than 15-20mph. I have hauled horses over hundreds of miles and you feel the horse move in the trailer when they shift weight or are having fits or go down in the trailer. Yes, the door may have been an accident, however with a 35mph speed limit and all the curves in the road not to forget the hill. That horse was thrashing adding a anchor effect. It is impossible that this lady did not feel her horse thrashing about and a trailer door open for the distance she dragged this horse. With all the curves in the road if she was acting as a responsible driver wouldn't you check your rear view mirrors. We have laws to protect drivers from careless drivers who don't secure their load. Does this only apply to an inaminate object and not a animals life. This was no dog. How could a responsible owner just leave without asking for help. She didn't ask anyone if they had a tractor to get the horse off the road. There was not just a blood trail there was guts and meat chuncks all over the road. The sheriff was called within 15 min of the horses final resting place. They had said they new already, however when you call to find out the police report there seems to be a problem with a record of it and you get transferred several times. A horse is no different than any other load and as a driver you are responsible not only for your load but a life. She did not have an accident or a trailer failure. She needs to be held accountable.

I have heard rumors that this person is a farrier, unsure if any of this is true or not, just the neighborhood rumors. I also own horses and am shocked at this, I'm always a nervous wreck when my horse is being hauled and always double check everything. I feel so horrible for the horse who suffered this death.

My daughter just gone home and said that the whole school(post middle school) is talking about it. Apparently there is talk at her school that a boy named Alex, that his mom and aunt go to the Pilchuck Tree Farm. It is being said that his mom took their brown horse riding when this happened and it is now missing. They are saying that it was his mom's horse. This is just what is being told to me and may b rumors...

We saw this trail of blood on our way home Sunday. There is NO way this person did not know that this horse was there. This person was swerving back and forth, so definatly knew something was wrong. Please everyone keep in touch so something can be done about this!!

It is a very sad course of events that led to this horses death, but it is just as sad to hear all of the rumors etc. that I have been reading on these posts.
The owner of the horse was the one trailering the horse, which she has had for over ten years, and she loved the horse and has always taken good care of it.
Regrettably horrible accidents happen.
FYI: The owners son had someone come pick up the horse Sunday and they buried the horse properly and respectfully.
Also, some have said that the owner had no emotion, Shock is a powerful thing, when I spoke to the owner and the others involved on her part they were all horrified and saddened because he was a great horse and no one would wish this to happen to any animal especially a family animal they have had for over a decade.
Let he who has done no wrong cast the first stone, doesn't it say something like that in the bible?

my girlfriend and her best friend were right beghind it for the whole event i live on grandview and i was in everett my girlfriends best friend called me and said you need to pick up devan and this was thirty min after the fact she was crying the best friend was crying and the was peices of hosre and blood all over the road it was rediculous my girlfriend is still distraught it was sickining to see it i almost puked

After seeing the persons name & doing some research, I do know this person & will have to agree that this person is a very responsible person, But we all have heard of the unthinkable things that have been done to horses lately & everyone is in an uproar & feel that something needs to be done. This is a lesson that can be used in many ways, including myself & glad to see that there are so many caring people.

Well, there is NO WAY TO DRIVE THAT FAR AND NOT KNOW!!!!!!! For those of you who claim that this person is a good person that DOES NOT EXCUSE HER FROM THE NEGLIGENCE!!!! To those who were not there you have no clue, however for those of us who live on this road and have to see it and just how terrible & long this horse was drug.....IT IS NEGLEGENT!!!! It dont matter how long she has owned this horse,what matters is the facts, that she drug this horse 4.6 miles to his death...If she is as you say a responsible horse owner and trailered then she would have the experience behind the wheel to know she had a thrashing horse behind her. NO EXCUSES!!!! By the way if she was responsible why did she leave? Don't you think that responsible means owning your mistakes and DEAL WITH WHATEVER THE CONSEQUENCES ARE!!!!!!!

I agree this had to be an accident, and its a horrible one at that, for not only the owner/driver but the Grandview community who has to witness the carnage, but sadly, for the horse most of all. I just dont understand how the person continued to drive that far without knowing or stopping, the entire road of citizens were screaming.
I'm sure if the person is responsible, they will stand up and take full responsibility including any legal and financial responsibility for their actions, accident or not.
Unsure why you felt the need to quote the Bible, it states many things...

This was NO accident. The offender was NOT Teri Montgomery.

If you own a horse you know that it is impossible to drive and not know something is wrong. This person must be held accountable.

Everyone has an opinion on what happened, but they are opinions and there is only one fact THIS HORSE SUFFERED A PAINFUL UNNECESSARY DEATH DUE TO NEGLIGENCE. This offense must be brought to justice and I will not rest until it is done.

If justice is not brought though the courts I will bring it by community awareness. The trailer sits in the driveway of the owner(s) of Cowboy Campsite on Smokes Road in Arlington. You can not tell me that this woman cared anything for this horse now that I have seen how the other horse is kept on this property. No more rumors, STRAIGHT TO THE FACTS people. ANSWER FOR YOUR ACTIONS.

I am sorry, but I have a real problem with this story. I see alot of holes. Accidents happen, I understand that but to drag a horse for that many miles is unthinkable. A responsible horse owner wouldn't do that.
