Al Gore needs to practice what he preaches. Just another example of a two faced politician. He did fit right in with Clinton. I am ashamed he is from Tennessee! Fat a**

I have had a problem with Al Gore for quite a long while since he was first in the White House. When I was in school Tipper and the PRC was BIG TIME against bad lyrics and how they affected kids. I mean Hollywood and the music world was WAY AGAINST them and HATED them for everything they stood for. Now flash forward to 25 years later and Al Gore and Hollywood are in bed together. TALK ABOUT SELLING YOURSELF OUT!!! I have never liked him even though he is from the state of TN. 20 years ago, talked one talk and now talks a TOTALLY different talk.

This isn't the first time Gore has strayed from his own pro-environment stance. As Al Gore started his first run for the Presidency in 1988, Newsweek magazine reported that Gore was pressured by North Carolina Senator Terry Sanford and Congressman Jamie Clarke to ease up on his campaign against Champion's wastewater discharges into the Pigeon River. The river is clean as it flows through North Carolina until it passes through Canton and then flows polluted into Tennessee. According to Newsweek, Gore complied with their request, writing to the EPA to OPPOSE tighter water pollution control requirements ("Gore's Pollution Problem", Newsweek, 24 November 1997).

I had an opportunity to work in a Gore campaign in the 80's. He was a pro-life cadidate then. Just because Mr. Gore has a conviction today doesn't mean his conviction won't change radically by tommorrow. I believe Al Gore was once a good man. That doesn't seem so clear today.

Let’s see now: Gore got rich from mining a mineral the residue of which presents no harm to the environment. Bush and his cronies get richer and richer every day by sending our sons and daughters off to the meat grinder that is Iraq only to have a great number of them return home in body bags. Call me crazy, but I think I prefer Al.

As usual, most of you either didn't read the article or don't care..you just want to smear the man.
Al Gore did NOT lease the land's mineral rights, his father did. He had 'no legal recourse' and had to abide by the lease.
There is no story here...just another attempt to discredit the man.The money he made from the royalty payments was peanuts compared to money he could have made from other uses.I would hardly call $20,000 a year for 30 years 'getting rich'.
Al Gore has been called a hypocrite before, usually by ignorant conservatives who are afraid of him and afraid to face the truth.Look to your own actions before you cast the stones.
Again...there is no story here. And shame on Channel 10 for giving it space. But it comes as no surprize..the large media companies are among the many rich and powerful who will likely lose their huge tax cuts and credits once the Republicans lose power altogether.

No Al Gore isn't a hypocrite. It is his father's farm not his, & he isn't the only one in that area that receives a sm. amt.(20,000) over 30yrs. that received royalties.Read the story, where did it say he was a big polluter?

Carthage,Tn. Once again another smear tatic! You were never concerned about my small towns unemployment rate, or water before. I 'm sure the Repulicans are gearing up for anything they can dig up & belive me if you have to go as deep as these mines to find it oh well! My father worked in this mine for 20+ yrs. & I've seen what comes out of the mines & been in them. Their are factories located near the Cumberland River that also pump into it. Please get your facts straight before printing something as this was NOT Al Gore's farm it was his father's. Many other people in this county received mining royalties from the rights to mine off their property. It only depended how much was obtained from your property(I WASN'T ONE OF THEM). In what century do you think 20,000 over a 30yr.'s made you rich? If you really want somthing to bi**h about look at our present great system that is filling our cemetaries, rehab. center's, & VA Hosp.'s with son's, father's, & husbands! Oh, & what about our great Nute G. that tattled on Clinton he was doing the same thing only Clinton got caught! If this is all Al Gore can be commented on then great I'm proud he's from Tn. & Smith Co. my town. People know my town & the facts before you make too many comments!

Perhaps if people weren't on this one track to make everything regarding Mr Gore political this article wouldn't even be here. I am so sick of reading all of this predictable dredging up of the past that really does nothing to forward any debate about the future. This is why I hope Mr. Gore does not run for president ever again. The people in this country are too damned ignorant that we would once again be spending all of our time reading this sniping garbage instead of discussing what WE are going to do to preserve this planet for our children, and neither he nor those of us 3who actually ahve a brain deserve that. But I suppose certain people get satisfaction out of judging others as it relieves responsibility from them having to actually look in their own mirrors. What a waste of time. When you get something that truly is Earth shaking to report, let me know.

If I'm not mistaking...and I know I'm not, I mentioned this about two weeks ago. Gore is a liar and a loser and I don't think it will be too much longer before he is really exposed.

Kind of like his environmental credits that he sells from some of his companies...he sells them to another company that he owns a major share of the stakes in...basically he is selling them to himself and hiding the money through a corporation. Just wait until a new group of scientist debunk his “global warming” theory. They are assembling now.

people are already debunking his junk science theories and daily, scientists are coming out saying that the earth is in a natural cycle of warming and cooling with man having no part whatsoever. we just happen to be here while its happening and have to listen to this idiot gore while he makes millions with his modern day chicken little stroy.

Why didn't you publish the names of the numerous other land owners involved in the leasing?
Are you just against jobs for the area that might pay more than minimum wage?
Perhaps you just wanted to vilify Gore?
