Beauty Pageant prompts claims 'rich' kids get special treatment - Eric Alvarez
Extending a registration deadline for a county fair beauty pageant might not seem like a big deal, for most families, but in Smith County, it's enough to make the long-time pageant organizer step down and for parents concerned about the message it sends to their kids.

megan mcdonald hand delivered this letter to the executive board of the smith county fair association
Dear Mayor Michael Nesbitt and Smith County Fair Board Members, With much consideration I would like to offer my time to the Smith County Fair as the new director of the Smith County Fair pageant. Over the past few years I have noticed a strong since of aggravation from parents and contestants regarding the fluidity of the pageant system, as well as, how it is portrayed. As an individual that not only has competed in numerous pageants myself but has also judged, help direct, coached contestants and have been the Master of Ceremonies of many; I feel that I can bring a fresh new air to the pageant. My vision of the fair would be to bring back professionalism, dignity and class. I feel that I am more than qualified in that my family has competed and won in many pageants. Myself having won and represented Miss TN Model USA, 1st Runner Up Miss USA Model, Miss Food City 250/500 at the Bristol Motor Speedway, 1st Runner Up Miss Wilson County and many more; and my sister Kim Reichard with titles such as Miss Wilson County, Miss Middle Tennessee Electric, Mrs. Tennessee USA, 3rd Runner Up Mrs. USA, Mrs. Tennessee Globe, 1st Runner Up (3x) Mrs. Tennessee Americais more tan willing to assist me. If given this opportunity i promise the board and the resident of Smith County that I will work hard to make the Smith County Fair Pageant an enjoyable event that our whole county can be proud of.
Thanks you for your time and consideration. Best Regards, Megan McDonald (and phone number was listed)
