Drug Testing for Public Officials

People that work for the Government are usually Drug tested before being hired and are subject to random Drug Testing or at least Drug Testing when involved in an accident.
What about our Politicians why aren't they drug tested and why isn't that part or the process to qualify for office.
Mayor's, Sheriff's, Chiefs all the way down to the maintenance person should be treated the same and given a drug test before taking the position and then subject to random testing also.
What do you think about this and do you think they will pass it ?

Most require an initial test pre employment, but after that nowadays an employer must suspect you of something to test you or if you are involved in an accident.
Random, continuous testing is not the norm in 75% of the places you'd expect it to be, cost is one reason they typically cite.
I know for a fact that Metro is this way.
