This situation is tragic on all sides. I do think there were other facts to concider. 8 AM, wasn't it pouring rain and dark outside as I recall? Didn't the homeowner ask to have him respond to check the house, and fail to mention there was a dog in the back yard. Do you think he really wanted to get out of his car in the pouring rain and check all the doors. Probibly not but that's his job. She herself say's the officer and the dog had a faceoff and the dog was just doing his job. Protecting her property and she was, and the officer was doing his by going into the yard to make sure no one was inside attacking her. Does anyone really think an officer who dedicates his life to protecting the community and puts his life in danger everytime he puts on a badge really wanted to kill someones family pet? I heard he even attempted to have a vet respond. My heart goes out to the family, I know I would be heartbroken if this had happened to one of my dogs. It was an unfortunate situation on all sides and my heart goes out to the Officer too.

Before you make judgement, know the story and dont blame someone for something unless you were actually there. It was not kyle tipton, if you knew any better you would know he works 2nd shift, which is not 8 in the morning. Before you want to throw someone under the bus, get your facts straight. And remember theres always two sides to a story. If you really want the facts then im sure if you went to the sheriffs office they would tell you, instead of going by hear say from some idiot on topix

You go put a uniform and gun belt on and see just how easy the job is. I just love hearing about how you people would handle things.

Well duh, if he didn't want to kill the dog, he wouldn't shoot it.

Well, the sheriff did make statements to the press, and they sound like hogwash. As to there being two sides to the story, there were no witnesses to back up the sheriff's version either.

Sure. Without those accessories, killing a dog would be a whole different ball game.

Yes the deputy that shot the dog probably does come on shift at 7 am but kyle tipton does not. His shift starts at 3 pm

The Deputy who shot the dog is Brian Miller. He is a chicken shit! He tased a 70 year old man 2 weeks ago. The sheriff is just as dumb. He is not even academy trained! Mr. Miller should learn some compasion from his girlfriend who is the nurse at the jail. She should dump his scared ass!

Wow, everyone is so factual in their statements....
1. Unless you wear a badge and no policy and procedure you shouldn't make assumptions on the officers actions.
2. If you are referring to B Miller he is academy trained.
3. Like Deputy Dawg stated the officer is not allowed to comment due to the open investigation.
4. I guess he should have just let the dog maul him so that he could be the victim.....would that mean you all would think he should sue the family??
5. The answer to #4 is NO, he is good officer, doing his job, and would put his life on the line in a second to save you!!
6. He is a very active deputy, guess you all would prefer someone to just sit in their car and drive around til shift change.
7. And just for the record, you should do your homework on his girlfriend, she is not a nurse at the jail.
8. Gossip and hearsay are not going to bring Daisy back.
Thoughts and prayers are with the family of the dog and with the Sheriff Deputy. I am sure neither of which would find and of this commentary appropriate or justified.

The family that witnessed the shooting also said the cop went behind the house and out of sight then they heard the gunshot.
So its obvious only the cop and dog knows what happened and the dog just aint talking !
Then the owner of the dog lied and said the friends actually saw the cop shoot the dog, so someone is lying !!

Umm actually everyone that gets hired on either the sheriffs dept. or SPD either has been through or is sent to the police academy in Richmond.. people before you voice your opinion please be sure to check the facts. While I don't particularly like miller he works public safety just as I do for this county and people just like to ramble on about things they don't know anything about. We are your best friends until you get a chance to burn us. Then you cry for us the next time your in trouble. What do we do? We come help you again, and the cycle goes on and on and on...give it a rest people I assure you its being taken care of. Unless you a jury of his peers in court your so called "facts" don't hold any water. As far as the 70 year old man, well let's say when I worked in a prison I learned just because you've got some age on you doesn't mean your any less dangerous. Especially under the influence of certain narcotics, barbituates, or alcohol.I'm sure an article will be run in the senile news. Wait till its run and then talk shit.
