We all know the circuit Judges of the old days rode horses town to town to deal with the offenders. Seems like we have kind of a lost soul circuit ridin' Judge out there lately. Has anyone noticed Judge Rex Ogle? You can see him out every night just riding around town and drinking. Like he has something bothering him or a booger looking for him. Folks say he had a Prozac patch stuck on his face rather than on his back at the swearing in ceremony some time back. Is he following in Judge Baumgardner's footsteps, or just forgetting his meds?
Or maybe he has been seeing Judge Rader's name in the paper about failed land deals. Could it be that his secret investment in Cocke county with Joe Keener and the convicted felon is about to make the news? Bet Jerry Kerley never saw his problems coming, or he could have car pooled with the Circuit Rider

Wasn't he who predicted 'this county is about to explode'?

Perhaps he's dodging the bigger part of the blast and trying to be where he gets less damage, but, who is to say where the next break will appear as there seems to be something popping up every two to three days as supported by the news only yesterday, alone.

Just as persons are not (supposedly) respected or selected in the administration of justice/injustice, seems human failures are showing up all o'er the county lest ye be high on the totem pole or laying across the lower wrung of the ladder. I suppose at this time any and all are suspect, and the numbers are increasing in case you're writing a book.

Stay tuned, as we on the street crew are making a wide swing and circling often.

The radio boasts that 'folks at SCUD work hard to assure the people of the county', implying the people are their first concerns - not true; about election time we hear concerns about the welfare of all, that soon changes. The banks declare that all are welcome to come and do business, but what kind of business?
If you have a home mortgage to refinance now, which bank would you take it to?

The more things change the more they stay the same - I reckon, but,
how can we be sure?

Is this every night's business you see the circuit rider, and (of course) he know he's imune for any act of illegality by a'dranking on the road?

Guess the drinking daily is an attitude adjustment for the work done that day or preparation for the next day's work on the bench?

It's a rough life, there, juggling the pros against the cons - bending more to the 'cons' of course - reckum that would be a hard way to go, but, the political power that comes with the job is fodder for the ego, and that makes the risk worthwhile.

For one with health issues to begin with, as in this case, all this stress of such a lifestyle might result in near ruination if not complete breakdown. Will that be the next news we'll hear about?

See this post in KnoxNews (reference to Richard Baumgartner nos under investigation) relating to the investigation of a judge and the effects had on those coming before the Court. How do you feel about how a ruling from a judge (on your case) might alter your life if under meds that were mind-altering?
'You are certainly entitled to your opinion but let me point out a couple of things that jump out at me. We have no idea that he has served " honorably" for 19 years. We know he hasn't been caught doing anything dishonorable for 19 years.
Being a judge is a job. If you cannot endure the pressure of doing your job you should get another. Lots of folks are under lots of pressure but they don't resort to addictive drugs to deal with it. I haven't any idea if the judge has done anything criminal or not and I don't believe that is the question here. This man holds peoples lives in his hands much like a surgeon. Would you want to be operated on by a doctor who is buzzed on pain pills?'
Now, does it matter if you are involved in legal issues in Knox County or Sevier County?????

Per the Mountain Press Judge Sloan (of Jefferson County) is introducing the idea of a Drug Court to the members of the local Bar Association (Sevier County). If he sees how well such has worked for Judge Baumgartner, would this have anything to do with this introduction?

What Judges of the district would benefit for having input in the Drug Court, could it be that three out of four would lean in that direction?

One question after another - now, which of the four would likely be 'more' above question than the other three???

Well, it seems the circuit rider has gotten a 'whiff' of hers in time past, may be he's out riding around trying to catch that same scent again, ha?
It has been a little windy, here lately, you will likely see his dog riding side-saddle the next round through town.

Where will the 'circuit rider' be this next week?

It will be a busy time here in Sevier County with grand jury meeting, will all court hearings scheduled in Sevier County be canceled out with all attention given to this process or will all go forward as planned? Some judges are uniquely adapted to doing two things at one time - wearing more than one hat - especially those so politically involved (not all)as, and when, they are called upon to protect and defend those who reciprocate in defending them! Those are few, of course.

Wonder who had the poor Judge-ment to have Judge ReX and Judge Norma pose for the picture in the Press with Gary Wade? Oh, wait, it gives the credit to Stanley Voit. Wonder when he started taking his own pictures for his paper? For whatever reason, it clearly shows how happy the justice couple really is. Norman looks like she is clicking her heels together hoping to find "home". And poor ReXxIe, the huge drinking-to-much bags under his eyes makes him looks like Howdy Doody. Clearly over-medicated.
I know how they, along with several other couples used to go out with us and have a good time. That is until Norma became embarassed by his actions. Now they don't even attend reunions with us. Shame.
