A Sevier County man accused of killing an Ohio teenager in 1985 has been cleared of the crime by DNA evidence, but prosecutors have yet to drop murder charges against him, his attorney said this week. Walter Zimbeck, 42, of Kodak was arrested three months ago in the slaying of 14-year-old Lori Ann Hill and has been jailed in Ohio pending trial on the murder charges. But Zimbeck’s court-appointed attorney, Amber VanGunten, said that a comparison of Zimbeck’s DNA with evidence found at the crime scene 24 years ago has effectively ruled him out as a suspect. “This case is absolutely ridiculous,” she said.“There’s no other proof. I don’t understand why they are still pursuing the charges at this time. I have not been presented any further DNA evidence, and most of it was unfortunately lost.” SEE KNOXNEWS.COM for full story. Walter always was short a screw or two. Friendly to your face, but could give looks that could kill behind your back. Terrified his wife. That little girl was always scared of him. With no commits from either the Ohio State AG or arresting agency, or local commits from local law enforcement, it looks like Zimbecks's attorney is on a fishing trip, looking for support from his friends and family here in Tennessee. It appears there is a terrible lack of both. Locals down at the store, say he was a likable fellow up until a few years ago. Then he developed a pure mean streak. One local fellow reportly loved him like a son, until he threatened to kill his real son.

I see that the statements by Zimbecks attorney were more newsworthy then the tragedy at Fort Hood. Front page for claims of innocence from his lawyer (her claims only, which she is paid to do. Even Saddam had a lawyer)while the story of mass killings of our soldiers on our own soil is planted on page 11 by good old Stan.
