Most everyone knows of how the detectives of the Sevier County Sheriff's Department and the Sevierville Police department are the most close-knit,incompetent,lying poor excuses for law enforcement officers perhaps in the nation. Most know the story about the death of Karen Arwood's son and the rudeness of SPD's detectives Sam Hinson and Kevin Bush, as well as the the actions of our corrupt DA's office.
We also know that the Sheriff's Chief Detective Jeff McCarter and his complete moron sidekick Matthew Cubberly, were instrumenal, along with the help of Sgt. JJ Breedin and others, for helping Sgt Mike Voncannon and Judge Jeff Radar in making the death of Pamela Ross appear as a suicide. This biggest assest to this case was the DA's aiding the coverup. SPD detectives were extremely rude to the Ross children and still refuse to release the final report on her death. Sure hope these guys are smart enough not to lie to other agencies who have become interested in the Ross murder. Chief Myers seems not to be smart enough not to cover for Seals and his hired guns.
But now to the latest. Yesterday a story was aired on Channel 8, with a retired Park Service Investigator giving his opinion regarding the recent murder of Shannon Hercutt and how it will be very easy to see a murderer go free in her death. Although Sheriff Seals and DA Jimmy Dunn assured the media their investigation had begun right away, the vehicle was sent to a wrecker service and left unattended. Her body was sent to a mortuary without a autopsy ordered by the DA (Remember Pamela Ross, Dunn?) Hercutt's father kept insisting for an autopsy and it showed foul play.
Now we hear that the Hercutt family was asked to come to the Sheriff's office to discuss the case. Present were two most corrupt officer's in this county: Chief Detective Jeff McCarter and his bulldog sidekick, Matthew Cubberly. As usual, Sheriff Seals was to scared to show his face in an interview, but his two cowboys did their usual job of showing they are guilty of something.
The conversation centered around their concern the family though the agency was not conducting a proper investigation. During the talks, Cubberly showed his complete stupidity by blasting the dead girl's father, while his supervisor McCarter allowed him to do so.
Now boys, we know corrupt detectives and officers do not fall far from the Fat Tree that spawned them, but the big question is it one of your own you are covering for this time (like the Ross death), is it just one of your buddies, or is it the outside world once again sees the corruption that lives in downtown Sevierville? Or does McCarter and Cubberly need to get back to their gun and drug confiscation business?
Either way, I'll bet there is a movement that will shake your foudatiion just around the corner, and the coverups will come to an end.
By the way, Seals, the chuckles coming from your office when the TBI was investigating the Gerald Miller DUI deal must have paid off. What kind of skit did you perform that day?

This is nothing new. But by now,2009, crap like this should be a distant and distasteful memory at most. The kind of story you tell after you preface it with "This happened 25 years ago".
25 years ago the big news was a sorry drug bust better tha 80% based on lies. Of about 30 people brought by Carman's Chief of narcotics, Hal Watson. Watson's ONLY credintials for getting the job was that he worked for WBIR ch. 10 in the news department. That's all that it took. That's ALL that was needed. Get the reporters here, get the perp walk & a sound byte from Carman. Publicity for free that brought the kind of exposure that could cost other candidates tens of thousands of dollars. Back then the prevailing line of thought was that if it was printed in the paper it was surely true. Co-workers would testify that someone was at work at that time. The boss would back this up with the mans time card & pay stub for the week in question. This did NO good. They were railroaded from the word go. Ruined lives, shattered reputations, fractured family ties. All this & more, in the name of the almighty $. I laugh as picture some of these Sevier County Clowns as they become as weak and vulnerable as the teens they did it to. Then I chuckle as I picture the worst of the worse, of sound mind & failing health entering a nursing home..... a local facility. LOL

I've been fully aware of the good ole buddy system inside sevier county. They work as a team on everything to screw the innocent and assist the guilty as long as the guilty has PLENTY of MONEY!! This is why I moved from that screwed up town and the inhabitants within its city lines. I didnt want my future kids growing up in that town because I personally experienced the greed and corruption within the legal system. Judge Radar is a two faced lying con-man that keeps his position by scaring people on election day, just like the Da office with their ways of scaring people to plead guilty on charges they knowingly didnt commit.
