Here is the real story, not the Mt. Mess BULLSHIT!

SEVIERVILLE A 14-year-old Sevier County boy has been arrested and charged in connection with using a bow and arrow to shoot a golden retriever who later was euthanized because of her injuries.

According to a news release from Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals, the Seymour juvenile was charged with aggravated animal cruelty. He was turned over to authorities for a hearing to be scheduled at a later date.

On Aug. 28, the lost dog, whose owners said was named "Allie," was found with an arrow protruding from her side at the Speedway Market on U.S. Highway 411 outside Seymour. She was taken to a local veterinarian clinic, where euthanized.

Animal control officer Phil King with the Sevier County Sheriff's Department investigated the incident and learned that a juvenile was seen with a bow and arrow in the area.

Seals said that King interviewed the teen on Wednesday and the boy admitted to shooting the dog with the arrow.

Jayne Vaughn, director of the Sevier County Humane Society, praised the Sheriff's Department and King for their work.

"They did an extraordinary job in working to bring closure to this disturbing case," she said.

Vaughn said someone came forward with information that led King to the Seymour teen. The "Justice for Allie Reward Fund" for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot the dog had grown to $450, she said.

"We do believe that the person that came forward will be entitled to this reward," she said. "It was a great relief to discover that an arrest had been made and that we can put this horrible tragedy to rest."

Vaughn said the lesson in this situation is that BB guns, pellet guns and bows and arrows are weapons.

"In this case, the bow and arrow proved to be a deadly weapon," she said. "I don't believe they should be in the hands of children, certainly not without adult supervision."
