Department Will Not Release Full Records

The Seymour Volunteer Fire Department's detailed records are still not being made available to the Seymour Herald or other citizens.

I'm really rather torn on this.I think if hard working citizens of this town are to donate our money,we should know what it's going towards.

On the other hand I really can't stand S.H. and I want to feel like Mr. Karl shouldn't butt into things so much.

But again,as a few i've discussed this with have said,the SVFD are the people that would be responding if your house were to be on fire,and as long as they're doing their job it shouldn't matter(keep in mind that was someone else's opinion)

Anyway,not sure..I would kinda like to see what's so important to not show that they can't just be like whatever,here's the books though..

It might be the case that they have expenses that aren't justified, but I'm more inclined to think that Esch isn't opening his books because Joe Karl is a muckraker and fact-bender who will inevitably find some way to turn it into a negative, one-sided story. Karl hates Esch. He's made that abundantly clear - especially since his childish editorial earlier this year that basically called for him to be fired. Esch has probably just had one too many experiences with Joe Karl taking quotes and facts out of context. Karl is completely blowing smoke with the whole claim that the Tennessee Press Association Attorney is looking into the matter, b/c the Herald doesn't even belong to T.P.A., and I'm sure Esch knows that. I would imagine that if the average Seymour citizen wanted to find out what the budget was, they could, but I don't blame Esch for not throwing his records into the Seymour Rumor Mill and waiting to see what comes out the other side.

I'm not saying I want it to happen, or that it should happen, but it would just be really fitting if the Herald or something else of Joe Karl's caught on fire and he needed the help of the SVFD in the near future.
