Seminole School Board to debate controversial 'inquiry math' method

School leaders who promised an unbiased look into the success of a controversial approach to math instruction are expected to show up at a Seminole County School Board meeting Tuesday armed with data in favor of the curriculum.

This new type math instruction was not even mentioned during open house at JHMS. I'm a little disturbed that children are teaching children, and that those students who don't "get it" are left to fend for themselves. Luckly my child happens to do very well in math, but I'm afraid those kids who struggle are going to fall behind rather quickly.

There is a mob-like mentality growing within our Seminole County School system and it seems to be coming not from our elected officials but from unelected school employees, leading all the way up to Ron Pinnell's office. Teachers are afraid to talk, some have lost their job under the guise of budget cuts last year. The teachers Unions will not protect their members, alleging that they don't deal with issues related to curriculum.
In the meantime, many math teachers have to work in a constant climate of fear.
Bullying "dissident teachers" into silence will be used again next year but this time it may very well be with social science teachers and its new controversial program.
Why and who is pushing so hard, willing to use intimidating tactics to silence anyone speaking up against this expensive and failed program?
Someone needs to follow the money and the possible financial connections between texbook companies and local bureaucrats.
