Airtran Airways fired me because I am disabled with diabetes and had some minor problems at work. Since then, I cannot find a job in my profession and they have appealed my unemployment. I have lost my job, lost my career, lost my health insurance and lost all my retirement. By next month at this time I will probably loose my home. They have taken everything from me because I have a disability and they are ignorant. Please do not fly this airline if you know someone that is disabled, or have a family member that is disabled. Do not support this company and their unfair, and perhaps illegal, business practices. Please give your money to another airline.

sounds like someone lost their job. sorry to hear that. welcome to the crowd. crying about it never got anyone a new job. from the sound of it your disability is not the reson they fired you. right to work not right to cry. look in the mirror. face the facts. pick your self up correct your attitude and get out there and be positive. your new job is looking for you. dry your eyes.

I know who you are and the reason you were fired has nothing to do with your disability, which by the way you don't have, but anyway Whiners is right, stop crying about the job YOU lost by not showing up for work, and get out there to find another job that doesn't require you to be there on time, or do your job timely so that other people relying on you don't have to get behind either...

You don't know what you're talking about. Maybe you whine about things, but I never do. It says right on my termination letter that I was fired because I had a low blood sugar, no other reason. So you're telling me that if you had a disability and got fired from your job because of it, no other reason, you would just tell yourself it's alright and go on? Sounds like you need to get a little more backbone. I'm glad that I don't have anyone like you in my corner. I'm glad that the EEOC doesn't see it your way. They believe it's a violation of my rights. Tell you what, I'll just forget about it and go on if you take my diabetes. It's not bad enough that I have a disease that will more than likely end my life early, but I have to put up with idiots like you and the one's at Airtran too. You sound like the type of person that tells a cripple to stop complaining about the steps and just crawl up them.

You have no idea who I am or why I was fired. Not showing up for work...NEVER did that. If who I am, please give me a call because I would love to talk to you. Who are you to tell me that I don't have a disability? What would you call it? If there's a God, you'll get it too.

What kind of idiot company would fire someone due to a health issue? Wait, were reasonable accomodations made to allow you to work? Were other opputunities offered for you to work somewhere maybe more accomodating? Did you refuse these accomodations? It says a lot about a person when trial hit. How they handle them defines them. "If there's a God?"...REALLY???? I would fire you on the spot. I am sorry you lost your job and have diabetes. Again you are not alone. Your attidude is where your true problem lies. Airtran is not stupid, someone saw past your disability and determined you were not fit to do the job. Attitude determines actions. Actions get you fired. I would not wish any health issue on anyone, even my worst enemy. There is a God, and I pray for you, to him.

I don't know. I've never run across people like the ones that are at Airtran. I have filed a complaint with the EEOC and they are currently investigating it. After they are done with their investigation they will issue me a "right-to-sue" letter. Then it is my lawyers turn to try and right things.

My complaint wasn't that they didn't provide me with accommodations, even though they did not. I'm upset because I have a disease, and I work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year doing my best to take care of it. Sometimes it just gets the best of you no matter what you do. I had a few low blood sugars while working. Nothing ever happened because of it. No injuries, property damage, equipment damage, no nothing. I just basically froze up until someone got me some sugar. When they fired me, they said they did it for "safety reasons" even though nothing ever happened that would even come close to safety. They are saying, "what if" this happened or this could happen. They are looking at "what if" and they should only be concerned with "what is". You know before they were Airtran they were Valujet until that unfortunate plane crash down in Florida that killed everyone on board. I would think that if they are concerned so much with "what if" they wouldn't even being in the air.

That's really the whole story. Why they did what they did to me I will never know. I don't understand how people could even sleep at night after what they did. I have no job, no health insurance, no retirement, probably going to loose my home and everything else. They care about me by about as much as they care for their customers. If people could hear what some of these big wigs at Airtran say, they would never fly them again.

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Capricorn

You're in a very generous and kind frame of mind today, and you'll go out of your way to help others if you think they need it. You might donate some money to a good cause or decide that charity begins at home. If you're buying gifts for some of your loved ones it will be difficult to know when to stop, because you could easily get carried away.
