So far Rick Walter has brought back the D.A.R.E Program, drug use has been delayed throughout Scott County, he has built up a strong police force in the past 4 years, and many more arrests have been made during his term of being sheriff. Much more has been improved throughout Scott County because of Rick Walter's efforts.

you truly believe that you must work for him. We know who he's hire and RE HIRED and why. We are not happy with him and as he smiles to you face and tells you one thing and does another. He is all about the power NOT the people. Its said some people can't handle the power, I heard heard he is backing a deputy running for sheriff because he may need a job, so I guess he knows its coming. Even his own home town doesn't support him ask around, ask the chief and old chief. ASK AROUND and you Will find the truth ....so leave the office you work for him in and get the PEOPLS's view not your enviroment of "protect my job" people.

I do not work for Rick Walter nor am I in Law Enforcement. But when you say things like ask the chief of his home town, I know enough that that current chief was fired and rightly so. The old chief you talk about was doing some things that he should not have been, and Rick called him on it. I am one of the PEOPLE"S view, and have asked around about the election and have found that the majority of people support Rick and plan on voting for him even if they have a Sullivan sign in their yard. Oh and I am from Chaffee, and I am well aware of the Sullivan crew.

A strong force what a joke

I have called the sheriffs dept. for atvs riding on the county roads in the county with infants on them. I was told by a dispatcher there was a deputy in the area, it took another deputy one hours to get to my house. Real strong force.

Rick Walter just freed a man who had spent half of his life behind bars for a crime he did not commit. I think I'll look past your complaint about infants on ATVs when making my decision regarding his effectiveness as a law enforcement officer.

Take some time to get some numbers to support how effective he is!! Don't just recount his words. He has a problem with veracity!!

I thought the burden of proof was on the accuser. But maybe I missed something when I learned about that. In this case you are the accuser and you acuse Rick Walter of being an ineffective sheriff and according to your last sentence a liar. Where are your numbers to back it up? But maybe I'm thinking too logically here.

come on sheriff-if you spent less time hounding the news media maybe you could find time to focus on who killed the poor lawless girl.
I guess if the killer was a camerman or reporter for the media you would be able to find them!!!

way to logically for this site. Most people on here post based on a single experiance or emotion not on the truth or fact.

I don't live anywhere near Scott County but I just read the story about the Lawless murder and how this sheriff re-opened the case and the innocent man who spent 14 years in prison was freed. I think that speaks volumes about the man's integrity and compassion. That was a risk he took because it is rarely done. Once someone has been convicted who wants to spend the money to say he is innocent. What a great man you have in Rick Walter. You could be blessed with Sheriff Joe Arpiao from Phoenix and you would realize what a great man you guys have up there.

Has anyone considered who the first deputy on the scene of that murder was??? Maybe the case was re-opened over a sense of GUILT and REMORSE rather than compassion. Where was this so-called heroic law enforcement officer, and the evidence that should have been collected, when an innocent man was being sentence??? Scott County is one of the most drug ridden counties in the area, and has some of the most crooked officers in the country working there. There are issues involving racism, prejudice, chauvinism, illegal drug use and trafficking, etc. that would curl the toes of the community if they knew the truth about what goes on in that county! It is despicable that this man is being made a hero!!!

the key to solve the case of the the girl that knew to much is the 380 shells. the boyfriend was there, she fought for her life and the blood and skin from the boy friend under her nail did not come from sex. He knows what happened. Did he ever own a 380 who did?
