Now let me get this straight--Howe Caverns plans water park. I wonder if they could use the on again, off again, on again water lines that were meant for Lowes? Or, maybe the child mayor likes to play splash splash. I'll bet they dig their own wells rather than dealing with the Village or the Town of Cobleskill. With any luck they are outside both limits. Heaven knows we don't want any new businesses to come into the Cobleskill area. They might bring jobs or worse yet--pay some taxes!!!

"dig their own wells"...???? The waterpark interests indicated that they would truck in the needed water. Guess the local what, water table, aquifers, would get tapped out if drawn on for this project. Hmm...

They slapped him with a $20,000 fine and they are laughing. Watch, he will sell that property and get out of New York State as fast as he can and everyone will wonder why? See, they drive business out of the county with their thought processes.

Forty-five years ago, I left Schoharie county as a wide-eyed teen who needed a job. The military provided me the ticket to leave and a job to boot. When I left I thought I would return in a few years, settle down and repeat the cycle started by my elders. When the time came to make that decison the opportunities I saw where I had been and was far outwayed those in Schoharie County. Over the years I have experienced other ...Shoharie Counties... and in most cases those experiences have been coupled with a local government populated by those who have an agenda. An agenda of non growth and deaf ears. Contentment with the status quo and Great suspision of change. Occassionally I return to Schoharie County and am saddened by the boarded windows of down town and the obvious lack of full employment for those who live there.

Wonder what it is ... 45 years have passed and the fun I had as a kid at the PARK Theater, Howe Caverns, hiking the Schoharie creek seems to have disappeared... how did that happen?

Well - They gotta make money somehow. Especially having to pay for all the studies that went into the Lowe's Debacle. God knows little to no revenue is coming in from current tax base nor will there soon be any new revenue from that sector.

I moved away from Cobleskill in '66. I love my town of Cobleskill. Its so sad to hear of the bickering going on there. I have not seen JJ Newberry boarded up, but would hate to see that. I remember as a little boy going in that store and loving everything about it. And the other businesses there.......Hoagland pharmacy, Hodge and Akers, Shafer grocery store, the movie theatre, etc.,etc. The wonderful park in the middle of town. What a lovely, lovely town. You should all be so proud and work together to keep your town so beautiful. Come on.....find a way!
