My heart goes out to the Wisconsinites who were so gravely effected by this disaster, the same who have the courage to stand, protect and proliferate this great reserve of Americana to which all of us illinoians rush to escape our concrete jungles.
God speed in accomplishing the rebirth of Lake Delton..

Had my first duck and sea plane ride at Lake Delton back in the 70's. Love the Baraboo, Devils Lake, Dells area but am living far away now. My heart goes out to all and hope to see it come back ASAP. We will be back to support all the good folks in the area.

I was in Baraboo this past weekend for vacation - it was interesting to say the least! We got stuck in Walmart for an hour cause of a tornado watch, then a tree came crashing down 5 ft in front of the cottage behind us......We had the alternator belt come off track cause we drove through a puddle a little to quickly, so we where stranded on the road half way between our cottage and Devils lake for an hour.....we got stuck driving around for over an hour following a local, who was driving like a bat out of hell, trying to get us back to Nordic Pines cause all the roads where flooded, and Monday before we left I have a picture of my fiance standing in water up to his knees, and he is standing on the sidewalk where we had been fishing the day before......SO needless to say it was VERY interesting........But it was still a great time despite all the insanity. Through most of it there was so much disbelief to what we where seeing........On our way home we saw SO MANY farmers crops that where flooded, my heart and prayers go out to everyone whom has lost from this disaster!!!!!!

i have been going to the dells since i was 3. W e at least 1 time a year and sometimes two. We have stayed at the wilderness on the lake, and the funny thing is that i was on the phone monday night making reservations at the wilderness wanting to stay in the cottages, i was talking with a woman from the wilderness and she told me the cottages were sold out for that weekend but the condos were open but the scenery might not be the best because of the flooding. Well i was thinking it will be ok by aug. so anyways i had to call back a half hr later and talked to a man and was telling him the woman said there was flooding there, well he said the lake was not flooded it was gone. i could not believ a lake could disaapear. i was in shock. To make a long story shorter i still made my reservations because in some way i feel that is my way of helping out. i love the dells and i hope they only get stronger from this good luck and god bless see ya in aug.
