And I'm sure the employer upped the cost of his product/products, which in essence forced the consumer to pay for the illegal's bills.

Should have used legal workers in the first place. Lesson should be loud and clear, you cheat the system and the system may come back ane bite you in the rear.......Hopefully this is a lesson to all employers of illegals!

I doubt that because he would just price himself out of business. He's gonna have to eat this and other employers might just want to take notice.

Hire legal or get a huge fine. LOL.

Cindy Gonzales is usualy not credible yet , I hope this is true because it would set a wave of emploers to rethink there cheap and currupt standards. These corps need boycotted there products arent safe to consume . People comaplain about China yet the Japanease wont touch USA beef because the dont trust American meat processors ..... They are right not too , buy meat from local small butcher shops and ask your grocer meat dept if they process there own most that have a freash meat counter do , they are safer to buy from and watch there employees for mishandling of product . The processor could care less if you eat bile, fieces ( human or animal) human phlem ,scabs , urine , human blood ect ......... I worked in this industry and USDA dont mean nothing and niether does FDA !!!

Either way, this should teach the unscrupulous employer not to pass over the American worker...illegals are going to bite us all in the end, as they can't be trusted in any venue.

“The July 23 decision by Judges Michael K. High, John R. Hoffert and Ronald L. Brown affirmed a 2007 ruling by Judge James R. Coe.”

The court ordered..." Sun Valley to pay $305 a week for 36 weeks for temporary disability and $144 a week for 263 weeks for lost earning capacity. The landscaping company also must cover $29,000 in medical bills and other related services that in the future may be necessary."

German Andrade, will continue to collect if his capacity to work has been diminished. Even if he returns to his homeland.

This court ruling is interesting. If I understand this correctly... the employers, not only have the court cost, they must come up with the money, as workman's comp was not paid on the illegal alien.

Sarpy County employer, Sun Valley Landscapes, thought they would not have to pay for his hospital cost or compensate him, because he was here illegally.

He was making $12 an hour at the time of the accident. They think he is still in Omaha, but he could not be reached for comment. Wonder if those in NE will rethink their "savings" when hiring illegals, now?

I have to agree with the court on this one Betsy. They knew that they were hiring illegals and should be held accountable for their injuries. Maybe next time they won't be so inclined to hire what they think is "disposable" labor. Serves them right if you ask me....

Okbuilder, I agree and hope to see many more cases of employers being monetarily punished for hiring illegals. It would not hurt to have their companies shut down too IMHO.

This is great news. Punish the employer for hiring criminal aliens. I can't believe the employer was not aware of Mr. Andrade's unlawful status in the USA. I hope this spreads all over the country. There is no better deterrent for lawless activities than a hard, swift kick in the wallet

Maybe before passing judgement -- the facts should be known -- remember its in the paper -- doesn't mean it is factual!!!!!!!

I'm sure as time goes on and more enforcement comes around, we'll see many more cases similar to this. I'm thinking about organizing pickets for the projects around New Orleans that are using illegals. The pro-illegals have been crying about leveling the field, so I say we give them their wish.... Along with a visit from ICE.

What's the Bbb stand for Better Business Bureau? It's all true and factual. The whole Omaha business community knows it to be so! Cheaters never prosper. At some point you get nailed!
