Do you think that by stating his criticism of the Honduras coup in the company of Uribe, Obama is indicating support of the latter? Perhaps Obama, instead, is drawing attention to and pointing out the obvious and uncomfortable irony of the reality. Have you thought of that?

What? Obama promised to have the most transparent administration ever. Why would he make his adoring fans and the fawning press work THAT hard?

The uncomfortable irony is we now have a president who is actually extremely comfortable with extreme activists and subversive governments.

Not like Bush, who gazed deep into Putin's eyes and glimpsed his soul, or strolled literally hand in hand with various Saudi royalty...

I had a very successful, outgoing boss who always went out of her way to engage our customers in banter and conversation , and who one time came into the back room, shuddered, and said, "sometimes it's really hard work being nice to people who make my skin crawl!"

Diplomacy may not always be pretty, or honest, or even always the right strategy to pursue, but to keep the peace all of us sometimes have to put on a fake smile and be nice to people who make our skin crawl.
