It's getting worse, and I don't think it's just in Farmington. Insurance costs and lawyers have a lot to do with why the system is screwed up, along with a system that forces everyone who can't afford a doctor to use the ER as their primary care physician. Add to that the gubmints cutbacks in Medicare/Medicaid and it's a system in critical condition.

I agree with the above that our system is failing, SJRMC has started a new program on urgency or emergency that is supposed to help with the ER patient load, and as far as the Cardiac care unit at SJRMC it is better than it has ever been and is further along than ever, just over a year ago or so a Patient in need of interventional cardiology would HAVE to either FLY to ABQ or to Mercy in durango, no choice about it, the staff at SJRMC is currently trying very hard to obtain enough Physicians to get their interventional cardiac care unit up and running fully, so dont complain about something that is not finished, its like complaining about the road construction around our area, and be very thankful for the emergency services you were able to obtain in just minutes, if you only lived a short 70 miles or so west the emergency medical system can take almost hours at times, and not provide such a high level of care as SJRMC's ambulance service provides and FYI the local ambulance is provided by the hospital. And Mercy was most likely (99.9% chance) informed of the incoming patient and was prepared and ready for his arrival.
So be happy we have the type of health care we do have, and look to the future for the hospital will continue to improve. |

Farmington's Hospital has not changed in 60 years. I was born in Durango in 1948 due to a lack of ability in Farmington. Since that time there has not been a change to medical service commitment in Farmington, only a name change to Regional - the same with the airport. Welcome to San Juan County.
Their are several local doctor's who will not affliate with Farmington Hospital, due to the hospitals reputation. The real regional hospital is in Durango. |

I know that the hospital recently denied hiring a certified, licensed EMT and hired a guy with no certification or license. It's not that they can't find the help. They have their priorities back wards.

The reason is because your husband is not the only one that needed help that night. There were several other emergencies that had to be taken care of. And yes, they may be understaffed......but it is not worth being a doctor these days. Do some research on your own and see what doctors really think about their careers.

Maybe they couldn't read your application because of poor english. |
||||
If you want that job bad enough you will keep on trying. Don't give up now. Employers want people that are persistent. They wont call you back. You must keep after them. Go back to their personnel office every day until you get some kind of response. Many prospective employees are afraid to do that. They think it will hurt their chances. If you worked hard enough to become a nurse you can surely work hard at getting that job. Hang in there and good luck! |

Excuse me! but i am not a mexican i born raised here and i am spanish i did work hard for my license so talk all the bull you want.. |
||||
You might have been born here, but your written English is poor. Use capital "I" for reference to yourself. You should say "I was born and raised" and use some commas. Maybe you should go back to the college and take some English classes. You probably have the nursing knowledge, but you must also present yourself well with written language. |

Yep health care there is not the best, billing department needs to pay closer attention on how things are billed, So that we all don't have to pay for there mistakes later on. The last time a family member was in the ER there was a doctor that came in and was only in there to say No you do not have anything wrong with your heart. That one little sentence on there bill cost them 500.00, and that Doctor was only in the room long enough to say that and leave, and he never came back in again.
I have heard many people talk and said they wont go back the San Juan Regial They would reather Drive to Durango to be seen Now. Cause there you are treated like a human being |

How did this turn into a grammer discussion? First of it is just a comment, no one said grammer had to be perfect on here. SJRMC has NO clue what they are doing and hasn't for a really long time. And if they are under staffed and have a ready and available nurse applying, why wont they hire?? |

The same exact thing happened to my husband last week. I took him to the ER where we were told he was having a heart attack and there were no Cardiologists available in Farmington. This was in the middle of a week day. He had to be flown to Durango to be treated, and thankfully he was. The hospital in Durango, all the staff, were wonderful. We felt very well taken care of and confident in the care he received, and plan to continue his follow-up care in Durango.

they wouldnt have such a problem hiring doctors if they would just get rid of the few aweful employees keeping others from joining. Many people do not want to have to deal with these certain people because of their attitude and misuse of licensure. For two years i have been applying to work at SJRMC and yet they still deny me a job no matter my education, certification, and willingness to do the job. They hire certain people who keep intelligent, hard working, and educated people from joining..... its all politics and they dont seem to care

It's not just physicians who make or break a medical facility's reputation--it's cleanliness & nursing staff as well.
Not all but some of the staff at SJRMC sure needs to be monitored & perhaps coached! Other facilities' staffers tell me that every one of their elderly patients who's been admitted to SJRMC has come out with the MRSA virus! It is a tough virus but stringent cleansing/sterilization kills it. Someone at the hospital's doing a poor job sanitizing! I was admitted there a few years back & had to complain about the hairs on the wall of the dirty shower in my room. I also had to wobble out & get a doctor to demand the nurses finally assist my 84-year-old bedridden roommate with a bedpan after we both rang for nurses for 40 minutes!(I was recovering from surgery on the sciatic nerve or I would've gone looking a lot sooner.) And no, there was no more urgent care going on. Nurses were gathered to talk at the nursing station. |
