Being the business and I see all of the time WANTA BE contractors bidding work without a LIC offering a lower price ending in most cases as high or higher wirth sub quailty work than if a real lic contractor would have done it.With todays budget crunch people are looking for a lower price on work and in most cases get ripped off with no recourse. There good people out that do not have a lic but its still a risk.

These guys are Travelers; quite similar to Gypsys except most are of Irish decent. They are all con artists. They are very good at it. Often they use used motor oil to "seal" a driveway; what a deal!!

They are also great at selling new and almost new trailers and motor homes that meet lower that low quality standards.

Is there any connection to Mid Valley Grading & Paving out of Red Bluff? The owner's last name on the business card is Stanley as well. I'm wondering if this business name was their front.

In this article, Mr. Stanley is clearly a "Gypsy" and not an Irish traveler. He hails from a large family of Stanley's, all in the paving trade. He is a brillant businessman and his nickname should be "Teflon George". He will never spend a day in jail though, as he actually considers $15k~$20k (an average days take) to be pocket change and can quite easily come up with $200~$300k in restitution. While awiating his sentencing hearing, he and his crew where paving driveways in Hawaii and actualy made the news out there.

Just because someone doesn't have a license granted permission by the state to do a job,is NO guarentee they'll do it any better/worse than one that get the govt.contract and pays an extortion fee to work!Just like having a permit don't guarantee a job well done!It just keeps inspectors employeed. We didn't have a govt.license issued by the Diem govt.in S Nam to do the roads and projects we did there! They've made it so complicated just to work and have a business in Cal. your working, and the insurance co.s and banks are making all the money!

Agree with you 100%. Had a licence contractor work on my house, talk about a lousy job. He charged $8,000 for work in my 2nd bathroom and the only thing new put in was a shower. In a spot in the cupboard he had to remove a pipe which was round, instead of cutting a piece to match he just covered with another board, he is out of Willows and tell everyone I know not to use RDC.
