I am kind of shocked to hear that some people don't realize house stripping is a crime. It has been a crime for over a 100 years. You don't own your home until it is paid off. Until then the bank owns your home and everything in it that is attached within your home. That is true when you are in foreclosure, a short sale, or if your home is not distressed at all. Do you realize that a homeowner cannot obtain a loan without fixtures? That is why our prices have plummeted and there are so many homes bought for cash only in our valley. What house stripping has done is caused our values to continue to drop by over 50%. They has also caused the people who pay their bills and mortgages on time to lose half the values in their home because everything is stolen from the home down the street. That makes the neighbors place a sale of a box not of a home. When did stealing anything become okay? They always say your true character of a person is shown when times are get bad. Well here you go. I understand that many have lost their homes in these bad times but that doesn't make committing grand felonies okay.
