Domestic violence suspect shot to death by police ID'd
SAN DIEGO - Authorities Tuesday released the name of a domestic-violence suspect fatally shot by a San Diego police officer while allegedly struggling to grab the lawman's gun.

They should accurately state that the suspect (according to the only surviving witness to the shooting) reached for the officer's back up gun. Why was this cop carrying that 2nd gun and how did it end up on the ground?

it's called a back up piece and most cops have one.

In this case it's called a throw down. Cops carry these to justify a shooting. All they have to do is shoot someone and drop this on the ground next to them. It's a documented fact that this happens.
