Big California quake likely to devastate state

There are 4 comments on the www.reuters.com story from Mar 15, 2011, titled Big California quake likely to devastate state. In it, www.reuters.com reports that:

California will experience unthinkable damage when the next powerful quake strikes, probably within 30 years, even though the state prides itself on being on the leading edge of earthquake science.

Modern skyscrapers built to the state's now-rigorous building codes might ride out the big jolt that experts say is all but inevitable, but the surviving buildings will tower over a carpet of rubble from older structures that have collapsed.

The devastated wasteland at Mount Saint Helens recovered quickely because of the lowly gopher, it was the only creature that survived because of its underground protection.

Man needs a little more wisdom to ensure his survival, using his intelligence to take care of Mother Earth instead of constantly developing weapons of mass destruction may be one solution.

Many gophers died, as did the hummingbirds, the ants, some deer, and maybe a sasquach or two, and that old coot Harry Truman who wouldn't leave.
Neither Mother Earth nor gophers will save the people of California.
