It's a shame that Rutland has deteriated to this level within the last few years. One of the reasons is because the police department is not allowed to just jump on these drug dealers houses and apartments at the first sign. They have to let it continue for sometimes several years to "buid a case" so they say.

Then it's the lack of man power thing. Then it's the over-time pay thing,,,etc.....!

Not only Rutland say these things, so do many other police departments.

It's been said that the real reason for not being as aggressive as you'd think they should be is, too much paperwork and no jail space.

Yes, they will respond to gunshots and maybe fumble on a drug dealers place but, that is pretty much it.

Do they know where the drug dealers are. Most of them, yes. Yes they do. It's just that it's so much legal B.S. to go through after the bust. The paperwork alone is enough to make one turn their head

You will not find one police department to admit to any of this.

I also would like to point out that your law enforcement would rather go after the the kind of drug dealers that own nice homes and fancey cars. They don't get much in return for busting street level drug houses.

All I can say is the police need to stop putting bandaids on heavy bleeds! It is extremely upsetting that the police can be called to a location over 30 times in a two month period of time and not do anything about it! If their hands are tied then the city needs to set ordinances to untie the hands of those who protect and serve!
