rushville was once a beautiful small town. i remember walking down main street also. there were businesses from the tracks to miller's drive inn. there were several clothing and shoe stores, two dime stores, two jewelry stores, an office supply, ice cream parlor, drug store, a couple of eating places, including the "nickle nook". there was a furniture store, western auto, the princess theater,
banks and maybe a record store. that might have been around the corner, across from the old fire station. i'm sure i have missed some stores but time dims the memories.
what i do notice about this list is most of what was for sale downtown is now available at walmart.
one stop shopping, of course downtown was one stop shopping too. you even got a little exercise and a chance to chat with your friends with out blocking the isles.
boycott walmart, save rushville.
