As I said on the news paper this lake is a NO SWIM ZONE for a reason signs posted clearly state NO SWIMMING this could have been prevented if people would just follow the rules and standards that are set for a reason yes it is sad but it was preventable

Out of curiosity, what is this "reason"? I'd never swim there, personally, but it doesn't seem all that treacherous at a glance.

. There are many under water hazards. Snakes, snapping turtles, many types of fish, trees, and it really deep. Plus the boats on the water may not see someone swiming in time to miss them. That's way it is a no swim zone. It is a good place to fish so there are probally tons of fishing line with hooks in it. Plus when boats are on the water some maybe leaking something into it. If it was cleaned out and they relocate the snake and snapping turtles and some of the fish then it could become a swimming hole. I have caught sowi many snapping turtles and snakes there it ain't even funny. The fishing is good though so many cat fish and blue gill.

The snakes there are terrible. We went fishing there not long ago on the back side and they were everywhere you looked.

When something like this happens, rumors does fly. Kids are kids and they do things. We all have.... This child is another mothers son. My heart goes out to the family and friends of this young man. I dont know him nor his family but Im a mother that lost my son as well and the pain is the worse that any mother could ever bare. My heart goes out to his mom and my tears are flowing for her too. Please think before posting your thoughts for words hurt as well too. The family of this young man needs love, support, thoughts and prayers. God Bless Them and Be with them through this tragedy.

Apparently Josh got tangled up in some wire of some sort, so maybe it's just not kept clean plus like they said...boating and the snakes and so forth

I've heard that most of this area was pasture fields, before the lake was there, so there would be a lot of barbed wire fences and other fences. Not an area for swimming.

Sad story for all involved, two boys did everything they could to try and save their friend and I can only imagine the hurt they feel as well... Prayers to the family and friends... Be kind people!!! Rumors hurt, how would you feel if any of these kids were yours? Let Josh rest in peace! And pray for these young men who lost their friend and have to deal with the fact that they couldn't save him!!! This is very sad...
