That little store hardly did any business.. it is a wonder that it was even still open and some creep just went in there with a gun... the sad thing is... that here in springfield if the gunman had told the man he was having a really hard time.. the guy would have tried to help him out I am sure... The majority of people around here are like that... but it is people like this robber who make it hard for others to be nice and think the best in people...
It's just sad...

i live less than a quarter mile from this store. The store did a lot of business before this man bought it and jacked up all the prices. i am very surprised this had not happened sooner. the previous owner allowed a small line of credit because the clients he served mostly lived on fixed incomes. I dont believe he should have been shot, but they were not the nicest people to deal with. they were very greedy and resentful towards americans in general. all i could say to them is if you dont like us. take you arses back to pakistan!

Weird huh. Mr. Patel can come all the way from tim-buck-to and find a job and we have people in the unemployment line. Go fiqure . Another amazing fact. He actually owns the business.

So can you explain why you are amazed that he owned the business and had a job.... there are alot of people out there willing to work hard and work for what they want.... the legal way....
Just because this man wasn't white or black all you people want to act like he got what he deserved... Sad very sad... I never met the man and I doubt I ever will but I will say i admire any man willing to wake up every morning and work for his family...same for woman... it isnt easy but that is part of being a grown up... you work for the things you want and provide for your family... Also... to the person who said he wasn't the nicest person and halfway deserved what he got... you sound bitter... perhaps he wouldn't let you charge what you had.. but you still didn't go back with a gun... why is that... Do you think that perhaps it was because somewhere in you small narrow minded ways you knew it was wrong...?

now day how many can let people charge? He has the right not to. This was a thing that happen many years ago when a mans word meant I will pay my bill in a few weeks. A mans word now a days means very little. No man no matter nice or not should get robbed and shot. This was a low down thug that did this, and when they find him, he should spend many years in jail. NO EXCUSS!!!

It doesn't matter about the ethnicity about the victim shot in this situation, what matters is that someone trying to make a living was a victim of someone that could care less about right or wrong and about human life.

If you don't like the way a business is ran, there is nothing that requires you to be a patron of that business and you can take your patronage somewhere else, it's as simple as that.

Rocky and Springfield girl, I've always heard that people could be racist down south but never believed it. I pity you guys. I can't believe that you think it is OK to blame others for your own shortcomings. You had the same opportunity as Mr. Patel did to own a business. It's not his fault that you were to lazy and dumb to invest in one and now complain about your pay cuts on your 9 to 5 job due to the economy being at an all time low due to narrow minded southern republicans who insist on re-electing Bush because they are set in their stubborn ways. Don't put down his success out of jealousy.
PS. Also, maybe if you would've went to college you would be a bit more cultured and open minded and would have a better job so you wouldn't be so bitter about the bad economy.

Took 3 rounds and still alive. He probably finished his shift.

It's just like the market owner on the Simpsons.

I started to go into the store two weeks ago and I noticed the couple who ran the store having strange behavior so I left. Maybe they aren't all that nice. It looked to me like they were yelling at what seemed to be an african-american employee. Of course no one deserves to be shot. It is also best to be good to people, employee or otherwise.

I am surprised that you insinuate you have an education. Clearly you are not aware of what the causes of crime are. Walk a mile in a person's shoes before you judge. Don't believe everything you hear.

Which is probably why the business was failing.

Richa, are you so closed minded that you judge me as being uneducated? I own my own business, I have a degree in engineering, and I also work with several diverse people and cultures. I simply stated that they were very rude and mean to everyone. It could have been a member of one of their employees' family.
