MRSA is an infection...not a disease,(Not trying to be a smart as5, just there is a diff)

MRSA stands for Methicillin Resistant Saph Aures.

It's a hyped up version of the same old Staph infections that have been floating around for years, it's just mutated to become resistant to drugs like penicillin.

BUT OTHER ANTIBOTICS, such as Cipro (Among others)kill it fairly easily.

It isn't so much about being a "Carrier", as it is about the bugs ability to travel. There is a percentage of the everyday population that carry MRSA on their skin, and in their nostrils without any problems.

WEBMD has some great patient education tools regarding pretty much everything. Go there and do a MRSA search, it'll tell more than you ever wanted to know.

This is such a dangerous desease, it's not to be taken lightly. Our grown daughter who works in a hospital got it and she almost died. Use hand sanitizers after going into any stores is what the infectious desease dr. told us.

me myself ,are you trying to sound smart, or just trying to be a smart A$$?This could be very serious for this child along with other kids. It is NOTHING to laugh at. I remember a few years back that young college girl got a disease that she kept loosing parts of her body, I'm not sure if this is the same thing or not, but I hate hearing when ANY of our kids are sick. I pray she will get better, and praying no others will get this

may all of our prayers be with the student with this terrible thing.
What are they doing about this in the school is it closed down or been sanatised... is something like that how this would be handeled..?
Are rashes the only sign or are they sleepy, sick, have headaches... I'm sorry I suppose I should go to webmd... My prayers are with the child with MRSA...and all the others

Actually, it will look like a boil or pimple but painful. It shows up in areas of the body where it can "dig" (so to speak) in deep.
If you or your doctor can catch it quick enough, anibiotics such as bactrim or any sulfur-type will work. Otherwise hospitalization with a full daily round of antibiotics is the next choice.
I was hospitalized for 5 days with MRSA. i worked at a correctional facility and touched an ID card that was handled by someone who has or was carrying staph.
Washing your hands is ideally the best way to prevent it but it is not completely fool proof. We handle things regularly that are touched by others: door handles, money, gas pumps....
