Most of the time I think your comments are pretty close to correct. I think you are way off on this one. I let my subscription run out and I will not pay it because of the letters. My brother-in-law is going to let his run out also. My mother-in-law still gets it, but she looks at who signs the letters before she reads them and she won't read the ones from the weekly wanna-be newspaper journalist. Our whole family pretty much boycotts it. I hear a lot of people complaining about it too. I have suggested to them to stop getting the newspaper. If enough people quit reading it, maybe they will quit wasting the ink on it.

I don't think that people read the letters because they agree with her. I think it's more like they are keeping tabs on what the "other side" is doing and saying. What's that old saying about keeping your enemies close?

I predict the Commission will appoint some people with no EMS or management experience. Why have they spent so much time and money on an attorney and now want volunteers to research the idea. Their is a total lack of leadership in this whole boondoggle. The commission should be promoting Doddridge County and handle negatives in a quite manner. Obviously, the EMS has made mistakes and lacks organizational skills but the Commission has the duty and authority to resolve this issue. The only winner here is the attorney that has helped drag this on.

By the way ---- As it has been explained to me (I didn't make the meeting)---- This AUTHORITY will NOT be volunteer -- For now, it is a FACT FINDING committee because once the Commission votes to set up the Authority, then they will only have 60 days to have it in place..... After the AUTHORITY is set up --- there will be a PAID DIRECTOR (full time paramedic) and the members can be paid per meeting and for their expenses.
AND --- this AUTHORITY will have a budget to split between the ambulance companies providing service to Doddridge County ---- which will have the Commission paying Doddridge County Tax Dollars to Salem Fire Dept.

I thought you people were so "up on your homework". You are slacking. Every county around has an ambulance authority, but like everything else in this county, we are in the stone age. The ambulance authority keeps people in line. A lot of people have lost faith and trust in the DCEMS and the commission is trying it's best to help gain that trust back. This is the only way. Complain about Salem if you wish. I for one pay taxes in this county and I use Salem as my emergency station. Why on earth would I wait 30 minutes on another squad from West Union when Salem is 5 minutes from my house?? Understand the word EMERGENCY. Then again, if I were in an accident closer to West Union, I would expect DCEMS to respond. If you people were truly concerned about saving lives, you would welcome another squad whose time to the scene was more efficient. But that's the problem. You aren't about saving lives. YOU ARE ABOUT YOU!! That's why we need the authority! I praise all three commissioners for their plight in this. They want the county people to have a service they can trust and that can quickly respond. A lot of people have lost trust in DCEMS and the Norris family can definitely educate you on the importance of response time.

Personally I think its rotten to be so negative about free speech and discourse. If letters to the Editor bother you send some yourself defining your position. As for myself I don't want any government agency involved in any part of my families medical care.

Your government has already been involved in your medical care. They gave over $100,000.00 to the DCEMS last year alone, just to keep them afloat. So, with the exuberant prices that the EMS charges, what happened to all that money that they needed 100,000.00 more?? Our commission contracts with Salem also. Salem hasn't asked for a dime. An ambulance authority will cost the taxpayers way less than $100,000.00 annually.

Get your figures correct Get over it --- It's less than 1/2 of what you are saying and further-- not only will there be a cost to run this "volunteer" ambulance authority, they will be given money to hand out to DCEMS and to Salem also..... What a boondoggle ----

(Frankly, I hope that someone DID go to the meeting and hopefully will report what was said in the paper --- I feel that in reading both articles, I can come out with some of the truth -- Like last meeting where the Commission's Corner reported a request for 21 thousand for computers and the Letter to the editor reported 7 thousand -- amazing, right?)

Amazing that those meetings are taped and the way it was worded, "3 units" "$7000.00", what did you expect them to report? I never went to school in Doddridge, but in Washington DC, that equals $21,000.00 But since it is now being "donated" by an outsider, that subject is moot, right?

Yes, the meetings are taped -- But didn't the Commission ask why so much????? If they didn't why not?(Beamer took it to be $7000. or them all not $7000. each!)

From what my sources say, the computers won't be donated by anyone, let alone an outsider, as the outsider declined to support the squad due to the bad press received from the Commission!(Yes, the refusal is in writing and I have seen it!)

As for the Ambulance Authority -- a big waste of money so some of the Commissioners friends can have employment ---

You guys need to read the PL Tones blog ---- A perfect example of the government taking over a service and running it into the ground!
