So now a person can be arrested for being a passenger? Wow! Only in good old Rhea County! Who gives a shit if he is a school board member. Is it wrong to drink a few drinks on your own time? If the guy was at work getting hammered then I would have a problem with it but as far as I am concerned we need to not get involved with a mans personal business and focus on the mans job performance as a school board member.

The story said that he got out of his car drunk flashing a deputy badge or something yelling at how the cop couldn't touch him because he was a deputy sheriff. He did not get arrested for being in the car drunk, he got arrested for getting out of the car ARMED with a handgun, drunk, narcotic pills, a straw with white powder all over it acting like an untouchable because he is an elected school board member with one of those deputy cards that everyone has. I still have mine from those hundreds Leon gave out like candy. I wish the name of the arresting officer was printed so I could drive to spring city just to shake their hand! Lets just see if the judge lets him off with probation like Thacker got.

Patrick is a good guy. I don't know what he is going through personally but I feel for him. I haven't seen him in years. Yes what he did was wrong...but has nothing to do with his performance. Would you like all of your dirty laundry being aired for everyone to see? Who is the the girlfriend anyway? SHE was the one driving!

Bottom line is he broke the law and now he will pay the price. No sympathy here.

His girlfriend is Jennifer McCampbell! First of all, hes dating someone 20 years his jr. and she has always been a drunk and a drug addict! She went to jail for speeding, he went for carrying a weapon while high on pills! He should have been caught and stepped down a long time ago! But, as most people know, she is a snitch..and he is best friends with McKenzie...so go figure. They wont get nothing more than a slap on the hand. he prob wont even have to resign from the school board.

You must not have any kids?!? Because if you did, you would not want a drug addict and drunk working on a board that is focused around ARE children, the very people that make the decisions regarding their future!

Listen idiot, it does not matter who he's dating, it doesn't matter as long she's an adult, it doesn't make a rat's ass if she is a snitch and it certainly doesn't matter who he is best friends with, that's his business not yours and i hope he NEVER resigns from the school board. If Thacker can work the streets in Knoxville and keep his big job then why can't someone else?

Resigning might not be an option, if he's found guilty of the charges. All of the weapon and drug charges are felonies. Thacker didn't commit felonies only misdemeanors. Big difference.

That has to be because of who he knows! controlled substance in scheduled II is a felony! Just look at recently released inmates. Just look at recently released inmates "charlton Ree", exact same charge but listed as a felony, while patrick's is listed as misdemeanor!!! BS

You may face criminal charges simply for having a legal weapon while being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

This offense is a Class A misdemeanor and carries a potential sentence of up to one year in jail and fines up to $2,500.

Hey, it doesn't make a shit. If he is guilty of even a misdemeanor, by being convicted of an "alcohol" offense of any kind he has effectively vacated his office. The county commission should call a special called meeting and request he resign or they vote to remove him. That is the ONLY way to do it, which is the RIGHT way. When one elected official looks the other way when it comes to "another" elected official doing wrong, then it makes me want to summon up the poor, the spirited and say, wait just a fu*king minute.

Thacker's escapade was bad enough but an elected clown flashing a damn deputy card needs his ass in jail, not in office. The judge could set the example, if he would. I'm sure some of us will be watching, as usual.
