Youth Hangouts Coming To Elkins

After the NO trespassing order was broken by the kids (Skaters) at The Wing Hut, and the threats that were made against the owners. The skate park seems to be a gang type hangout.

Two individuals on a no trespassing order threatened the owner and his family, than another six or so individuals came to fight with his family. Isnt it strange that a state trooper would take the word of bad children over the word of a business person. From word of mouth they never even interviewed the owners wife. Things that make you go hmmmmm.

Our city officers will be spending most of their valued time going to enforce the damages that these children cause daily. This park should be stopped and a crufew for the children with past criminal reports.

Have a biased opinion based on false facts, apparently provided by faulty sources.

When we allow individual`s with anger management problems to work on a consistant basis with the general public(the Wing Hut), and....
When your dealing with individuals that have previous Violent charges, Such as...... Holding their spouse at gun point(which makes me seriously doubt, that he wanted the police to interview his wife. I fear mental stability issue arises.

An adult in todays society must conform to social restraints,and we all must abide to its emotional confinements. The owner of the Wing Hut(WH) must live by the same rules and constraints as the rest of us. What we as a society have learned, is that, children learn by example.

In your editorial, you failed to mention that the owner of the WH attacked and pursued several juveniles with lethal weapons including,
a knive, a baseball bat and an automobile.

If the youth failed to observe the no trespassing order,and became combatant, the WH owner should have shown reticence and called the police.

I am having difficulty seeing where the unfinished skatepark is related.

The Skate park is an attempt to de-crimminalize the young citizens of the Elkins/Randolph County area.
They themselves have worked dilligently on this project for two years. moving forward to insure recreational facilities for the area youth. It is not illegal to ride a skateboard, But, it is illegal to chase anyone with knives, baseball bats, and cars.

As a small business in the area, I think it is a great project. My wife and I walk on the trail around the park and play in the field. We are excited to see a honest effort to enrich the community. There is no reason why someone should oppose doing something for the community. If you are concerned about what the kids are doing; you should involve yourself in change. Keep up the good work to all that are helping the kids and the community.

I think that they should be working on the Middle School rather than trying to give the skater punks a place to hang out.
And as far as the wing hut goes... If someone comes onto my property and is harassing me then as an American I have the right to do something about it. People all over have complained about what happened at the Wing Hut and as far as I am concerned the owner of the wing hut should have done more than chase those kids.
And finally... The skate park is not a gang hangout. Elkins WV does not have gangs no matter how hard they try. Ya we might have the occasional beat down or fight but I'll go to the skate park and bust any of those punks in the head and not get jumped on for it. Most skaters are little wanna be punks.
So I guess that my main thing here is that Elkins should fix the Middle School and get those kids out of our High School and let the Skater kids build their own EMO hangout.
