I hope that they don't close the school because my son just got moved there and is doing so much better as far as his schooling. They are closer to home and both of my kids like school now. Why would they close the school theyjust put a new roof on it and done a bunch of work on it so why close it.

Nicole, Please attend tomorrow's meeting at the Williford school, 6PM to voice your concerns. Invite others too who are satisfied with the personalized attention in education offered by our small and efficient school. Thank you.

I am going to attend, just because there are other kids like my son that need that extra attention that get the extra attention because Williford is a smaller school and they have smaller classes and it makes it easier on the kids. I have told everyone I know that have kid in there to go.

That is one of the reasons it failed. The willoford campus was condemmed. They wasted taxpayer dollars on a condemmed building. Charlie Tyler was the board president. He cant even take care of his own personal finances. Yet he was gonna save the school $500,000 by accepting the resignation of Gillihand who made between 60 and70 thousand? A case where figures dont lie but ? anyhow its gone and everyone needs to move on. Myself im not mad its closing im mad it took so long!

To Curmudgeon, where did you get that the williford campus was condemned? I have been to both meetings and the Board of Education was more than willing to let us know where the "Problems" were and that was not one of them. And most of us don't care about Charlie Tyler and his personal finances. I can definitely tell you have not went to Williford, Oak Ridge, or what used to be Twin Rivers all of your life like some of us have. I love Williford School. I went there all of my life and this is the first time since the 1800's that there will not be a school there. All of our childrens lives and ours are affected by this.
Williford School had Administration in the past that has caused alot of problems for Twin Rivers. Personal vandettas is what caused this. And if those (two) certain people are reading this I hope you are happy and thanks for messing up (our) Family!!!

His biased opinion. No facts no substance. You just like it because he is stating what you want to hear. It dont matter anyway. The state board has done what it was supposed to do. Make the schools comply and meet the criteria or else. They gave the persons in charge a good dose of or else. The state board had previously looked at the williford campus and found the building unacceptable. Several areas where not in compliance any one of which was reason enough to close the district. The state board has done its job! The students will be better off! Every one hated Gov. Sid McMath when he closed all of the one room schools that where in the churches and community buildings around the state. But he was right. He committed politial sucicide but he did what was best for the students way back then.

You are a liar!! You need to get off of here!! Who are you anyway? one of Willifords old principals?? Williford School should have never consolidated with Oak Ridge in the first place!! Williford had no debt and took on a school with way too much!! Plus 4 board members from Oak Ridge to Willifords 3 fixed it where nothing could get done!! I dont think the Board of Education should have the right to do just whatever they want!! As parents I think we should have some rights and be able to decide what we want for our kids!!

I have a constitional right to post here or anywhere else you have the same right. I may not like what you post but i would fight for your first admendment right,s!! It dont matter who i am but im not some one from or in the (parasite) education buisness. Calling me a liar dont change the facts. I really want what is best for the students and for my tax dollars to be spent effectively. The state board didnt single out this district they require all of the districts to meet the required minium standards. You parents do have some rights to decide what you want. But patrons and tax payers dont haven the right to keep spending everyones tax payer money on a failed school system. You can exercise the school choice option. You can home school via the internet. You can send to a private and or church school. It was not fair for college bound students to be at a school that couldnt or wouldnt provide the required courses necessary for the school to be accredited.

The school was not as much a failure as the state board of education has lead everyone to believe. Whether that is deliberate, or because the state board was itself misinformed, is currently anybody's guess. Nearly every issue the state board has raised was because the proper paperwork was either not filed in a timely manner or not filed at all - by the superintendent of schools,(Carl) David Gilliland who resigned when this entire mess came to light. From where I stand, the only tax dollars misspent at Twin Rivers were the ones that funded his salary.

I will agree that the super was way overpaid at 66,000 dollars a year. But he worked for the board. Why didnt they make him do the job he was hired and paid to do. Ill tell you why its because they didnt have the proper know how. The board was a bunch of dumb likeable nice guys. yes men for the super. You would think that they worked for him instead of the other way around. You should have elected people who where abrasive and who would have asked hard questions. folks that not many people like but that are their own person. A Curmudgeon perhaps?

well i think it sad no one showing up to the bake sales and stuff, come on guys, help us pay for a lawyer. the lawyer said this case is very winn-able. i don't want my kids goin to the other scools i want them to stay at williford they doing good there and they will go to new schools and won't get no help from the teachers. williford is a good school

oh and one more thing, at least one teacher at williford is running there mouth tellin the kids that there's no way to save the school, well all i got to say is they better shut there mouth!!! they ain't loyal to the scool so they can just stay out of our business and get out of town and go teach somewhere else when we DO save the school (cause we will). we don't need no teachers like that there
