Friday March 1st I volunteered to read aloud to children in a local elementary school in support of Read Across America. I own a children's book, "Red Boots for Christmas" adapted by Carol Greene. Upon arrival I asked permission to read the book and was told yes. I read from 9 am to around 9:40. At that time I was told that I had to stop reading that book and read another one until I left at 11 am. I was so saddened that I could not read Christian material to 5 and 6 years old that I almost cried. I am only slightly familiar with Meet me at the flagpole. Is it still constitutional for a volunteer at a school to read a book about Jesus or is it offensive? Karen Stevens 148 Prosperity Drive Baxter, TN 38544
