Mike Atkinson. Shame that he had to die but I'm sure Kelly had finally had enough of the molestation she endured as a child from this sick man. I can remember her in tears and hysterics at times in school over the sexual and physical abuse she received

How is it YOU happen to know this ? Can you prove what you say ? Sounds like a good excuse to be able to get out of a murder charge to me, pathetic. She's a murderer, and NO ONE gets away with murder !

Mike was a retired city of Miami Police Sergeant, who left in the late 70s or early 80's ? He was in a horrific car crash back then while on duty,and sustained head injuries, therefore he retired on a disability pension. I don't know much about his personal life, but I do know this woman who murdered him,had apparently been committed before see this link } http://www.historiccity.com/2012/staugustine/...
No matter what happened in the past,no one deserves this type of an ending,and shot multiple times with his own gun. If she had a problem with him,she could have gone to the authorities. I also found out through family members,that the argument was over her child,that Mike had taken up to Kellys mother (the child's grandmother) for her own good, due to the problems that the mother had, and could not raise the child properly. This is what the dispute, and shooting was all about,from what I was told. No one deserves to die this way. Bob

Well lets see what you have to say about that, ref your documents ? Are you talking about the fact he was a cop in Miami ? Cause he really was, or are you referring to something else to do with her, the child, the alleged abuse, or just what ???

Keleigh has lived with Mike off and on for years. Whenever she would have problems and no place to go she would live with him. As far as the molestation and abuse I am not so sure about that. I have known them both for about 28 years and had spent alot of time at Mike's house and never saw any indications of any of this alleged abuse. Unfortunately Mike is not here to defend himself and I think out of respect for his family people should keep the negative opinions to themselves. People who live in glass houses should not throw rocks.

I'm talking about the idea that she could have gone to the authorities for help. NOT IN THIS COUNTY. Keleigh was beaten so bad by a POS named John Kinney she lost the baby of his she was carrying and had to have surgery to remove a fallopian tube and correct the damage. All while Kinney, a two-time felon, was out on bond for beating THREE OTHER WOMEN. Robin Strickler, who was head SA then, saw to it that all charges were dropped. Something about Kinney's mother paying $20,000 to keep him from going to prison. One of the victim's, who had ribs broken from being beat with a wooden bat, talked to Joe Boatwright on a Friday and he told her the jury would be picked on Monday, the time of trial would be set, and he'd call to notify her. In truth, it was all lies and deceit. Boatwright was actually leaving for a weeks vacation, had passed the case to another inept SA, and a secret plea deal had been made. This victim sat waiting for Boatwright's call, which didn't come since he was vacationing, and found out from the clerk two days later that Kinney had already been before the judge 9:00 am Monday morning and pled to making harassing phone calls and vandalism. All other charges for all four women had been dropped and they weren't even notified. They found out from each other. When one victim finally talked to Boatwright two weeks later, wanting to know why this woman-beating baby killer had gotten off on these heinous acts Boatwright offered no apology for lying and tricking her, and arrogantly stated "You just don't get it, do you? Strickler's not sending the man to jail" Keleigh complained about it - and was threatened with having her probation violated if she didn't shut up. Kinney then continued to stalk and harass the women, knowing he had a free pass to do as he pleased, charges were again filed, and again dropped. So the women got together and decided to handle it themselves. Kinney was made to stop bothering them, but he just went on and found other victims since. Keleigh knows Boatwright is now head SA, Strickler squats at PCSO, and no help was available from them. Whatever she did was probably out of self-preservation, desperation, and not knowing where to turn for help. And that's one reason why Putnam County leads in domestic violence - because assholes like Strickler and Boatwright let it happen without consequence for the 'right' people, so it repeats. I imagine that's what she thought, especially since the dead man was a former cop, so who was really going to help her

I'm telling you. People will say anything. Why not tell the cop about it like last month last year or even earlier. I don't know the story,but I can tell you she has drugs issues. She was afraid of him alright,like she would come stay with him when she needed to or when she had no where to go

Bottom line is Keleigh chose to surround herself with a bad crowd. She was married to a guy who shoved a pool stick into the eye socket/brain of another guy at Cheyenne Salon in Palatka and he died. I am not judging Keleigh,only she and Mike really know what happened. She has had problems and created her own bad situations every since I have known her. If you look at who she is married to now he stays in jail. She absolutely does not have to do the things she does or has done nor make the choices she has made. She always stayed with Mike on her own free will.

She was raised that way, suffered abuse since she was a child, and just never learned a better way to live. Many women who suffer sexual abuse feel second rate, as if they don't deserve any better, and make poor choices about men - who then become the controlling factor in her life. I'm sorry to see her in this trouble because she really had the potential to be somebody special - but was never given a fair chance.

@ TPC I don't think that she was abused since she was a child. I spent alot of time with Keleigh, Mike and her mom. The only abuse I saw happening was the abuse from her towards Mike and her mom. You are what you make of yourself I don't care what happened to someone in the past there is no excuse for murder. Everyone knows right from wrong, whether they choose to do the right thing or not is up to them. She was given many chances and made bad choices. No one made her do the things she did. Not judging her just telling it how I saw it when I was there. You are right she had the potential to do something great with her life but she made her own choices.

I have known Mike for over 51 years, in all this time I have never known him to be anything but kind hearted, caring for others, generous with time and money when he could, always had a kind word and was of good humor. I know the truth about this girl, have seen her with my own eyes the kind of abuse she dished out verbally was like nothing I have ever seen or heard form a woman in all my 65 yrs...and he just stood there and smiled. We just had taken her food diapers and cigs..she had nothing but hate and anger for him and the world. When we left I told him stay away from her she is dangerous his response was I know but I just want to help her for the baby sake. Justice better be served or a great injustice will be done. Peace my friend til we meet again, Tom

I have also known Mike for over 50 yrs.We grew up together and are like brothers. I have never seen anything negative or disrespectful from him towards a woman or anyone else ever. He went out of his way to always help others including Keleigh who did not deserve it; but that is the way Mike was.Any allegations of hers regarding any abuse are surely total BS. She has a long history of drug abuse and psychiatric problems and he still felt sorry for her & tried to help.Why would she continue to stay with him & voluntarily continue to do so if there was any truth to these allegations? I am sure the truth will all come out and pray for Mike and his families sake that justice is served.God bless him and them in this very difficult time.My prayers are with them.

I personally know J.T. Keleighs now x husband. The man that is in prison now for the murder of the man at the cheyenne. Now i have a question for you were you there at the salon when this happened? Are you a mind reader? J.T. Did not intentionally kill that man. They were all intoxicated and J.T. Went to push the man in his sholder back down in his chair. As for her husband micheal yes he is in and out of jail. This does sound alot like you are judging her. Because, you are on here yapping this stuff. About all these other people and how bad they are. God is the only judge. And if you truly believed this you wouldn't be on the net being a blaber mouth.

I knew Keleigh to for a long time mike and my parents hung out sometimes. He was a dick head. He didn't like when me and her started dating. Told my parents to keep me away from her. Me and my friends always seen him snooping around town in the night. If he did mess with her I wish she would have told me a long time ago. I think Melissa you didn't know Keleigh at all.

@Melissa,

You make me totally laugh. Really you was with KeLeigh all the time when she was growing up. Funny thing is I never seen you. She was a very dear friend of mine and still is to this day. I also know J.T. he was a loving caring husband. He and KeLeigh had their differences but I can bet you this KeLeigh never stopped loving him as he has not either. You were not at the Saloon that night but neither was I but I have talked to both of them. And know that they were all drunk and an accident happen, KeLeigh watch my kids and loved my kids, she had issues but who in the hell wouldn't with the abuse she was given. She always talked about how Mike her father beat her molested her. She never hid it from anyone. So obv. you don't know her all that well. Now her husband Mike Brinson yeah he has been out and in of Jail. Do you know the story nope you sure don't. Mike has issues also why because when he was little his father hung himself. Mike was devastated from this he blamed himself. SO before you go barking know what and whom you are barking about. Mike Brinson works hard and loves his children. Hense he is out of jail got a high paying job and taking care of their children. SO KeLeigh I hope you get set free Hun!!

There's proof it occured because the sicko filmed it and the cops found the videos. Yet she still sits in that nasty jail nearly 3 years later. Read this and admit you were fooled by this 'good' guy. A lifetime of it would lead most anybody to drug use and having issues.
