Is it any wonder?

Who will be next?

She was relieved of her duties for the same reasons David Buckles relieved the people who had worked for Geri Melosh of their duties. Any Superintendent or top official in any corporation has people working directly under him that he/she knows they can trust and that support the same agenda. It's the same reason Jeff Hardy will have his "people" working for him,

Correct, and speaking of Geri Melosh, she practiced much of the same with the Overturf administration. Melosh simply fired her opposition, Mr. Buckles.

Thus the call for the poll: can you name one individual who is a more dedicated servant to the children of the Putnam county school district than Ms. Criswell? I surely can't. I'm even prompted to ask Jeff Hardy if he would agree. If TT has "trust" issues that is his problem for the next four years.

David Buckles was not Geri Melosh's opposition until after she fired him. Get your facts straight. He was blatantly insubordinate on so many occasions--she had no choice but to fire him. But don't get me wrong. She did exactly what he wanted her to do. It was a brilliant political move on David's part. It certainly got him elected superintendent. And yes, there are plenty of educators in Putnam County who have done just as much and much more than Phyllis Criswell. Her meteoric rise to the top allowed her to bypass most of the jobs other administrators have to do before they get into her position.
I supported David Buckles in this election. Unfortunately he was defeated. We have a new Superintendent and he has every right to surround himself by people he can trust. He'd be an absolute fool not to.
I'm sure Jeff Hardy would agree as Phyllis Criswell was one of his main supporters. But Jeff Hardy knows absolutely NOTHING about education so why would you care what his opinion is?

Blah, blah, blah. A proud Palatkan you are not.

Your maturity astounds me. I think you might be shocked at just how proud I am to have been born and raised in Palatka. Since you are supposedly from Alachua (where I have many relatives by the way), why are you so concerned about what happens in our fair city? Why don't we just agree to disagree? It doesn't look as if anyone else cares enough to respond to your poll at this point but us.

Be astounded: 56 people have responded to the poll. Be more astounded: your superintendent Tom Townsend spends more than 11K to "surround himself" in his office. Enough said?

Not the intent of the poll. Superintendent retaliation at this point in time is a real fear.

Better, will the voters of Putnam county be the fools?

Eager to criticize in the campaign about Buckles $pending practices, yet the very first priority for TT is to surround himself in over $11K of redecorating. As a voter my question is why?

Why not an office--- that better than a good buddy getting a check every year for worthless land and paying for some one elses road work.

TT doesn't have the credentials yet can afford at the taxpayers expense the "look" as superintendent surrounding in $11K of furbishings. Hats off to Melosh and Buckles using the same office in such deplorable conditions.

Try more like $20,000...not very inclusive and open...no open bid either...campaigned that everything go to bid...now gives orders that everything goes to bid...Even hires an assitant super and she started working before the board approved her...extra position...extra $100,000+...does what he wants to. Board meeting should be interesting...stay tuned.

Watching the telecast now...according to our superintendent: "If I need more money, I'll come back to the board and ask for it." And this was considering consultation costs.

How much will this superintendent cost the quality of our children's education?

Wake up Putnam county! You have a produce stand manager pretending he is a superintendent. What a slap to the education process.

And the answer is:

To bring on Grace Thomas (without board approval). Watch your back Mr Superintendent, history repeats itself.

It is very likley Townsend had the office re-done to remove bad memories and odor from the past.

Is it coincidental that you sound like the superintendent at the recent board meeting?

The superintendent is making his memories: bad, sad, constrained, open and inclusive. The odor is KOCH/GP; smells like big $$ in these parts of the county.

Doesn't change the facts, people get fired everyday and no one is whining on this forum about it. Get over it, she's not going to be rehired. Find something else to moan and groan about. How about the deficit Buckles left of the school district funds. Read the PDN. If you want to complain, how about complaining about that. That's worth complaining about. You sound like Buckles or Criswell yourself.
