Well, that's not fair. The people that really need it or not, were to stoned and forgot to vote last time. But their backs, necks, hips, feet & eyelashes felt better! Merry Christmas to all.

Oh well, if they can't smoke their weed they will just have to go to their doctors or the ER and get pain pills. Anyway, marijuana costs money but Percoset or Norco with Medicaid costs nothing (at least to the pill popper, the rest of us with private insurance will have to cover the bill) Merry Christmas!

Wow a slam dunk by the ruling class commissioners. It will be interesting to see what happens in a couple of years when marijuana is leagalized. The farmers will be pressuring the commissioners for the right to grow hemp. I bet they will change their tune then. Oh, irony.

Damn Gene. 20K? You have to spend money to make money and by dis-allowing medical marijuana centers, I guarantee Prowers County and the city of Lamar are losing out on tons of tax revenue. It is even more to know that these funds could help bring some much needed industry to Lamar that is approved by the state. If Lamar and Prowers County continues to act in conservative ways, the little town I loved to grow up in, won't be moving anywhere except towards Ghost Town status. Wake up!

I sure don't think Lamar needs pot & I firmly believe everything will go to pot around here once it is allowed. We have enough bums living off welfare & unemployment now & once everyone gets to say owie to a doctor & start puffing it up, the crime rates will at least double here.
I think the commissioners have done an excellent job.

The final sentence says it all: "It seemed frivolous to spend that extra money to put the ballot before the voters again." Yeah, especially since the majority of voters would probably agree that Lamar should recognize the laws of the State of Colorado. Do people surrender their rights when they move to Lamar?

people can still get MMJ and still grow MMJ they just cant get it from a MMJ despensery, you are not going to cut down on the amount of ppl who can legally smoke MMJ this only bans the despenseries please try to understand this ppl. If they cant grow it them selfs for some reason they will just come up here to CS and buy it at one of our despenseries and you will loose out on that tax money. Then they will take it back to lamar and go home and smoke it. All you have done is give the Illegal pot dealers job security, that is it.

Looking at my last post I should have also said that if they could not get to CS than they would buy it from the illegal pot dealers.

actually it is not unconstitutional local government can make laws banning despinsarys and think like that but they can not stop people from getting prescriptions or using MMJ. Also people can still grow it for them selfs if they have a MMJ card. Prowers county is loosing money with this ban.

I had the pleasure of attending a city council meeting in the fall. I went to the meeting for a totally unrelated reason, but the. MJ issue was on the agenda, to which they placed a moritorium on the issue until the new year.... and in the very next breath our mayor stated that Lamar would be in the Red by the end of the year so if anybody had an idea to save money that would be great.
Now I don't claim to understand the long term social consequences of MJ use, but I thought it very short sighted by our city council.

On another note, I just bought an O Z for $350 that the city did not get a dime of.

That's like saying " Hay lets go take some Vicodin and drink some beer its ok I hit my finger with a hammer and got a prescription." If you raise your children right they will know the difference between taking a medication and abusing it.

The city and county have intentionally not let this go to a vote. The majority of the local community would have no problem allowing tons of money to come to Lamar and Prowers county.

It's The small upper class and conservatives that have a problem with this and they know the best way to stomp it out and that's to not let the people have a say in it. Hell we don't know whats best for us anyway I'm sure glad we have them around to watch out for us.

As far as a dispensary increasing the crime rate I don't see how that could even be possible. I would wager money that anyone that wanted Marijuana could find it in less than 30 minuets just by asking around at any bar in Lamar.

Every time a person buys Medical Marijuana in Lamar the way things are they are funding drug Dealers, Mexican cartels, Smugglers and Murderers right here in our small town. All this just so you can say "not in my town" and turn a blind eye while it happens in your back yard.

The great thing about a dispensary is that it takes money out of criminals hands and places it in our community. Think of all the good that could be done by opening yourself to new ideas.

If you made it legal to own alcohol but illegal to sell it I bet there would be a lot of bootleggers in Lamar. Or would that not happen in your town either?
