This is usually the case in when some suspects are running from the police after a robbery and murder at a store or bank. This is one if the roads that I was using to go to my teaching jobs in Vienna several years ago and of course, things were good then.

May the Lord bless the family of the person who died. We prayed all the way home after passing this incident at 10:30pm going 66-East. The car looked like a skeleton by that time. Investigation definitely went on. Thank you to all the EMT's, Medics, Firefighters, Police and Towing/etc. who helped with the crash. Thank you to the good Samaritans who helped.
May GOD Have Mercy

None of us expect to have an accident...most of all none of us expect to "die"...but it will happen to all of us. Please be careful when you drive..your life and your family and friends depend upon it....

This is so sad. The woman was probably the boy's mother. Your life can really be taken from you at anytime out there on the road.

My deepest sympathies to the family of the woman and I pray the boy is ok.....SLOW DOWN people....your hurry is not worth a life.....I live about 4 miles from where this accident occured and people speed on 66 all the time.....THE RIGH LANE RUNS OUT RIGHT BEFORE THE GAINESVILLE EXIT SO QUIT TRYING TO BEAT THE REST OF TRAFFIC FOLKS......see what happened? God bless!

I worked at this accident and just wish people would be more understanding when an accident occurs. Traffic was being deverted and all people had to say was you are slowing me done yet someone died...slow down and realize life is easy to lose and respect the ones out there helping to keep you safe.

My heart goes out to the family.
People we all need to slow down, and STOP texting and talking on your stupid cell PHONES while driving. When cellphones where not even around we all still survived!! NO phone call or text is more important than the life of another person!!!
When driving we all put the lives of ourselves and others in our hands, so please slow down!
Think about it, this 12yr old has to live with this accident and the loss othe his mother for the rest of his life. This kid will not have his mom with him when he graduates from high school, she will not be there to see him get married, and will not be there when he has his own family.
ALL because someone was in a hurry or texting, or talking on a cell, or whatever the cause was, but come on!
We all can slow down and we all can put down our cellphones. It just may save a life.
Prayers to the family, and to the hero GOD Bless! Thank-you for allowing this child to have a chance at life.

Heroes is not just the name of a show. There are real life heroes who walk amongst us. Real angels. God bless that man for saving that boy's life and if you could have saved them both, he would have. He risked his life and I'm sure the boy's mom (and dad) is very proud and thankful that he did.

I saw the whole thing happen right before my eyes.

I was the first car behind the incident, and lucky I was paying attention, or I might not be here to tell what happened. It appeared to me from my perspective that the car in front of Mr. Bauman's car had braked hard for something I couldn't see; perhaps an animal, because there wasn’t a whole lot of traffic at that time of night. The lady driving what appeared to be a RAV-4 or some other kind of compact SUV was in the lane next to Mr. Bauman, to his right. From what I could tell, it looked like both her and Paul tried to take corrective action to avoid hitting the car in front of them, but instead collided with each other and then into the other car in front. I was about 10 car lengths behind at this point, and the nearest car to the whole thing. The woman's driver-side rear wheel must have come off, because there were an awful lot of sparks coming out from under her vehicle; I assume it was at this point that the fuel tank was ruptured. When the whole mess came to a stop, immediately there was fire, and immediately the 12-year old boy got out of the passenger side and quickly got away from the accident. It was at this point that I witnessed Paul Bauman rush to the burning car to try to get the woman driver out, but there was already too much fire, and according to him, he was unable to get her seatbelt undone. Paul also mentioned that she seemed to be unconscious. Other drivers behind me who had stopped their cars had all run up to try to help in any way, but nothing else could be done. It's at this point I'm already on the phone with 911 emergency response, and was instructed to get everyone to move away from the fire as quickly as possible should there be an explosion. It was probably about 3 to 5 minutes (I'm not sure exactly; I had more important things to do than look at my watch) before the fire and rescue crew had arrived on scene, but the car had already become a pyre within a matter of seconds of the whole mess coming to a halt...

My thoughts and condolences go out to that young man who lost his mother that night.

For the reccord, from what I could tell, neither myself, nor anyone involved in the accident were going faster than the posted limit.
