Crooked Crooked Crooked! Now what do all you Snead supporters think now! Thank goodness Steve Smith won sheriff! Everyone knew how crooked the Haas administration was, now its all coming back on them! Way to go Sheriff Smith for doing an audit and finding out how dishonest they really were.Hope Sheriff Smith is keeping a close eye on the ones who were high in rank that he kept from the Haas administration! Good job Sheriff Smith.

Well, well, well isn't this interesting? I hope this does not get to be a hush hush story. The people of Greene deserve to know what happened.

I think Wynona took it to go to Acupulco without Raylan. (or it was Colonel Mustard in the library).

Sounds like "severance pay", possibly to hold somebody over until they could find a new job? Why would anybody risk prison for $22,000?

Really people? We don't know when the audit was even done and there are very few people that even have access to areas like this. I am sure they will find out who is responsible and it won't be Snead, Smith, or Haas..........
Don't be too quick to judge! There are many new and old duputies that have outstanding records working for Greene!

Really Annoyed? The guy who has already confessed doesnt have a prior record. Looks like he may be bringing more people down with him! They already know who took the money and it was an employee with the Haas administration and this employee was one of the people Smith fired!

What is it with Greene county and crooked sheriffs? The deputies are useless too. I've been pulled over in Greene without proper cause. One time I was pulled over for driving slowly in a snow storm and the officer wanted to know why I was doing under the speed limit!

Paul Ebert has a sterling rep re the death penalty and as a no-nonsense prosecutor. We'll see what we see re this case. I can't stand corruption by public officials, especially if they have a badge.

I did not see in the article where somebody confessed. If you have additional information that was not reported, please share it with us as well as your source so we can judge its credibility.

Exactly WOW!! You said it....it wasn't Smith, Snead, or Haas. It was obviously someone who had a key and not much of a brain. It made it easy for them to figure it out :-) Just because Smith fired him doesn't mean it had anything to do with Snead or Haas. It probably means he knew he wasn't going to have a job and the money was easy. 22,000 won't take anyone very far and I doubt he was working with others. Smith fired many simply because of their support for Snead....not because they were bad people. Who ever took the money obviously made a very, very poor choice.

At least in Greene they don't mess around, they just take the money. Here in Cville politicians go behind closed doors to bilk the tax payers.

The money probably went to fund Fluvanna's secret pay raises.

Nowhere does it say it happened while Snead or Haas was Sheriff!! So people are pointing fingers while not having any clue who was in charge or who stole the money. Since it is an evidence room it would only make sense that only certain people hold keys and that there are security cameras, right? There was a LOT of static and uproar over the Snead vs Smith campaign race but whoever helped themselves to the money needs to be bought to justice before all the smear campaign stuff starts all over again!
