The Department of Homeland Security calls 5.56 NATO chambered, selective fire carbines with 30 round magazines "Personal Defense Weapons" when they put out requests for bid to buy them.

Why is it "defense" for them and "assault" when a law-abiding citizen uses one legally to protect their home and family?

"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for few public officials." (George Mason, 3 Elliot, Debates at 425-426)

"Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people" (Tench Coxe, Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788)

"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States" (Noah Webster in `An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution', 1787, a pamphlet aimed at swaying Pennsylvania toward ratification, in Paul Ford, ed., Pamphlets on the Constitution of the United States, at 56(New York, 1888))

"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?" (Patrick Henry, 3 J. Elliot, Debates in the Several State Conventions 45, 2d ed. Philadelphia, 1836)

If obama, kaine, feinstein and biden had their way; the homeowner would be dead or worse.

Why are they are trying to disarm law-abiding citizens again?

I don't think this matters to the incident at hand. The homeowner, the victim in this crime, will be given a chance to defend himself in a court of law. Had he been disarmed just as the Democrats would have liked it, he'd either be dead or in the hospital.

All quotes from people living in an entirely different world than we do today. Non relevant. When the social fabricate begins to unravel more than it is now we will see scores of innocent victims fall to gun violence by so called good intentioned people. Morons all. The real shame is this country going in the total opposite direction than what we're capable of, but then what else is new. You think your your rights will have any effect against a drone?

Good for him, he saved his family. I'm sure there are plenty of liberals that are dissappointed. Can't you people see how important it is for the average citizen to be able to protect himself? And limiting the amount of ammo a magazine holds is ridiculous. This guy must be a pretty good shot.

I am thoroughly in support of every sane and reasonable person's right to own firearms.

Randomthoughts, sir (or madam), you do not qualify. Anyone as twisted and paranoid as you are is dangerous enough without guns.

And please continue to stay fearfull.Because this has nothing to do with guns, and everything to dowith RIGHTS .You should always start worring when you feel attacking someones rights is a safe move.

Because what I am think I am hearing you say is you don't want me to have my freedom of speech either.

I am here to tell you the best place to have people communicating.....is in the OPEN .

OR do you prefere to hear how ADAM LANZA chooses to be heard ?

You are right , rare chance you will ever see me with a gun..lol I can't even remmeber the last time I fired one.

But you will NEVER shut me down ...when they block me here ( giggles) I will be next door preaching .

Until you slow down and take the time to listen....

stay affraid.

All you "hear" me saying is that your "speech" indicates that you are a somewhat unreasoned and paranoid type. Case in point - nothing I write had anything to do with your right to free speech.

Another case in point - your "speech" strategy is to be threatening.

All I have to go on is what you have typed up. What it indicates is someone who is paranoid and unreasoned.

The very fact that you call my speech threatening , you have came to that conclusion ( first from an anon poster on th internet) for the very fact I am SCREAMING at you to slow down and LISTEN .

My other choice is to stay quiet, and let you steam-roll my rights.

There is no reasoning with people who you have BEGGED to stop and slow down , lets REASON about this .

The very first knee jerk reaction was to ATTACK our rights....over what some NUTJOB did .

The extremest didn't want to reason until they seen the groundswell of people who are not ready to bargin much now.... I know many many people who said...we do need to do something....then the full blow ATTACK on responsible gun owners has been wide open every since.

But, the WHEELS have come off. YOU know it and I know it .

And I have a couple thousand comments under the dusqus sytem that kinda states EXACTLY where we are now .

I begged the MOONBAT liberals to walk softly....long before the liberals and clinton started squealing.

You cannot attack 300 million peoples rights over what a few monsters do .

LAWS DO NOT WORK .... getting people help who feel they have no other choices but shoot up a school full of children as there LAST MESSAGE to whoever .

I wish every crazy SOB in town was online screaming.

Its the quiet ones that scare me .... the ones sitting back just waiting.... like that crazy LIBERAL shooter in LA.. he started talking at the same time he started shooting.

WE have GOT to try and slow these freaks DOWN , but we cannot tear through people rights to do it .

We have to meet in the middle and try what works for NOW .

And the laws FAIL and FAIL and FAIL ... killers DONT care about laws !

I guess we will wait and see.

There you go. Had to be the homeowners fault. How dare us live in a home and tempt those poor criminals. Let's all turn in our guns and leave our valuables in the yard so we don't risk harming these poor misunderstood souls
