I'm glad that the thread brought you around to this conclusion. You can't educate the stupid, and if jail guards were required to be of at least average I.Q. most would loose their jobs. I'm guessing the instructor was so disgusted with the members of the class that he told them to do it to see if they would, and then filmed it to show his friends and have a good laugh.
As an animal behaviorist, do you think that the dog will expect this "reward" in the future? "O.K. FIdo, but when we're done you have to go look for the escaped convict."

No --dogs bond for food not sex. Most domestic animals and zoo animals are bred by artificial insemination--I don't believe the dog was harmed in the process -- However it is a practice that is useless for the purpose they say. I have heard K9 dogs are also treated in this manner by K9 officers. Dogs have the ability to hunt by scent so it is easy to teach them to locate people, drugs etc. Because of the science behind reward--sex could not be used to get a dog to obey a command --like hunt or track a scent. I believe this was done out of pure ignorance. This practice is dangerous because it has the potential to lead into perverted sexual practices. Someone is in charge here are they STUPID also??? Who trains these officers?? Is there someone in the correctional and police departments that has an IQ over 80???????
