Well, Boo-Hoo! Don't you just love it when people blame everyone but themselves when their fleabag leaves home, gets picked up by animal control and euthanized? If this family had cared anything about their mutt, they would have trained it not to leave their property and it would have been wearing a tag with the owner's name and address!

I just learned something else about this incident. Apparently, the person who was allegedly "watching" the dog went to animal control, but to avoid a $200 fine for failing to contain the animal and not having rabies tags, she lied and said she wanted to ADOPT the dog!

Now, the county is "changing" the way it does things. This is ridiculous! Why should the county waste time and money "changing things" to accommodate negligent dog owners?!

Your an IDIOT if you believe anything Polk County Officials say about this or any other incident relayed to the incompetent bunglers who run animal control.
Animal control has a history of incompetence when it comes to rules for the proper disposition of unwanted and/or lost pets that,s mainly because its staffed by retards who,s only talent is killing citizens lost pets.
If their,s a liar in this matter it,s on the part of animal control and the county managers office.
When a dept. has SCREWED UP as many times as animal control has someone in county government who has experience in covering for incompetent county employees like the manager has to be ready to cover their A-- for them ,even if it means LYING about what really happened to protect their animal abuser jobs.

from the article the pet had no identification, nor registration and suffered a skin disease.

it should never have been allowed to roam free anyway...owning a pet COMES WITH RESPONSIBILITY.......the owner or caretaker of the animal is accountable for the welfare of the animal..NO ONE ELSE..........i am an animal owner.

It wasn't allowed to "roam free". It escaped it's enclosure. Big difference. Granted, it should have had a collar and tag, but please know your facts.....

i stand corrected on my comment of "roaming free"....however, if one decides to invest in pet ownership, do it correclty and thoroughly.......if the animal escaped, then indeed it WAS and IS the owners responsibility to have erected a suitable and proper enclosure SO IT COULD NOT ESCAPE.....again, "it should never have been allowed to roam free anyway...owning a pet COMES WITH RESPONSIBILITY.......to escape...the owner or caretaker of the animal is accountable for the welfare of the animal..NO ONE ELSE..........i am an animal owner.

and you reiterated the most obvious.had the pet been registered and identifiable with proper tags, the OWNER would've been contacted and the animal would STILL BE ALIVE.

@petlover....you bet i am lol'g some more!...a LOT more!

@petlover........"raw " hemmorrids?...is there any other kind?
now, about the reason this subject was started.....do you care, petlover, to expound upon "RoastPuppy's" ORIGINAL post?. yes, i saw where you repsonded, but hey, after all, RESPONSIBLE petowners do ALL the right things with and for the pets so AS TO AVOID TROUBLE with them or becuase of them......the most important, EASIEST and simplistic thing a petowner should do FIRST, is TO IDENTIFY YOUR PET WITH A COLLAR AND PROPER TAGS.......why wasn't this done? and just don't make excuses, please. adding insult to injury is the skin disease.why wasn't that being treated? don't say fleas.......all outside dogs have 'em.

I normally don't waste my time commenting on Topix but I feel I need to call YOU out on a word you used...before you call someone a "retard" look in the mirror next time because you are a IDIOT for calling someone that!! I have a family member who has mental retardation and I promise she is smarter than you are!! So yeah I take offense to someone calling someone that name, also if you feel you can do better than the staff at animal control why don't you ask them for a job ? Ok I am done now lol
