It looks like they're getting all the publicity they wanted thanks to the media!

This just gets deeper. It certainly makes Schumaker's parents statements on video have less credibility. There isn't a lot more you can say about this whole situation except that we all need to look at where society is heading and do some real soul searching. Each of us has contributed to the down hill slide--whether by not speaking out about violent music, movies, etc. or by going along with the touchy-feeling way of raising children, or by tolerating the slide for the past 30 years. That is not blaming anyone for this particular incident, but let's look at where we are at and realize it will continue to get worse if we don't as a group do something about it.

Punishment needed yes but life in prison for a teenager beat down, that's over kill. State Attorney, I wish you could throw kids in jail for a year for bad attitudes, rude behavior, playing their music too loud, talking back to authorities. That would be a benefit to us. In this case however, I don't want to pay for 8 teenagers to go to jail for 30 years for something that historically has gone on since man kind evolved. I saw just as bad on the school grounds in the 70's and nobody did anything.

OK Orlando Sentinel, you've squeezed all you can out of this story. Can you just stop now? We're getting tired of reading about these little trailer trash animals.

The following is my opinion. Can't you people get over this crappy video. The news organizations play it over and over because it enhances their ratings. The DA's office plays off the hoopla. This is nothing but a bunch of teenage girls kicking another one's butt for some apparent problems the group has had with her. It was no brutal attack with knives and hammers in which they tried to kill her. My gosh you people act like it's the capital offense of the year...want to send these girls away for a life sentence. Anyone who even considers sending these girls away for life needs a psych exam and a little prison time of their own. Get a life people and get your head out of the sand. Yes what they did was very wrong, and they need to be punished, but put this thing into a proper perspective. Life in prison for this? You've got to be kidding. There are thousands of street fights every day just like this. But this one made it to the video, and to the news, and the DA plays off of that. The DA will show me how much fortitude he has when he pushes for a sentence that fits the crime for these girls, and it sure isn't spending millions of the taxpayers dollars to put these girls in prison for life for simply slapping around a cohort who must have betrayed them. We have much more dangerous people whoi need these jail cells. These girls are no threat to society. Wake up people.

Well said. Espeically about Shumaker's cruel comment about it being a fair fight. Hearing Victoria's 911 call was agonizing. I was surprised to learn that Brittni Hardcastle, Brittany Mayes and Mercades Nichols drove Tori to a local CVS and dropped her off there and even allegedly apologized to her instead of driving Tori to the nearest lake to get rid of her. Maybe those girls do have hearts afterall.

Little miss pink sweat pants with the fat arse will get a chance to try that left upper cut out when she goes to the big house. Somehow I don't think she's going to administer the same beating on those prison babes as she did on the victim.

That nasty biatch is going to find out what it's like to be on the receiving end when she goes to whatever facility they decide to send her to. Good luck you trailer trash animal, 'cause you're going to need it. Be scared. Be very scared.

These girls need jail time but does anyone who has been watching the justice system honestly think they'll go to prison? I just see supervised probation coming and once again society will suffer the consequences.

Let those little biatches come to Miami, they wouldn't stand a chance down here. We'd kick the living shyt out of them and they'd go home crying to their mommas, omg, somebody kicked my butt. Their mommas wouldn't even recognize them if they stood right in front of their faces. And what?????

All these kids should get locked up and throw away the key. The parents should be fined and forced to pay for medical expenses. I love this country, but we need to do something about the growing rate of idiots. We need to start licensing people to have kids. I know some will say that having children is a basic human right, but if it's going to cost tax payers dollars to lock them up, feed them, keept them nice and healthy in prison, then once again, we need to start thinking of alternatives.

We are in big trouble if people think this is just a "beat down." Those girls slammed her head into a wall, which is enough to kill anyone. I've never seen girls fight in this manner, and these kids ARE a threat to society. If this is how they solve their problems, they could permanently maim anyone, anytime. Also, 911 operators scare me to death. A 7-minute call asking the victim pointless questions when she is bleeding from the mouth? Why don't they just get her medical attention and an officer to interview her ASAP? 7 minutes when you have a head injury?
